Yep- I have put in several par 2 courses at this point and they all have at least 1 hole that is a putt from the tee. IMO on the par 2 courses these holes generate more scoring separation than any others.
You should have seen those holes in 1997... back then as soon as you were off the "way" (borrowing the term from Stan McDaniel- "there aren't fairways but there are ways") you started throwing forehand rollers until you arrived at the basket. Now you have options to throw airshots. There are...
Paul has also called the Sunnyside at Blockhouse his favorite VA course. One of those events at Waller he left his bag at the hotel and played with 3-4 borrowed discs and shot the hot score for the first round.
We have tried one Hyperflite disc- I can't recall what it was but I didn't like the feel. Have also done the Bite a couple times. The Innova domination of that market is similar to the grip Discraft has on Ultimate. My dog's Mom did both dock diving and toss and fetch- I just don't have the time...
I get most of my dg practice throwing the (taffy) SuperSonic for my lab. Nothing better for teaching you to manipulate angles, etc.
I have been trying to get Prodigy to make a dog disc for years at this point- their naming system would perfectly accommodate the K-9.
I personally would rather see the kids given they aren't playing a crap course but to each his own. I played with Dave, Avery, and Barry at least a few times years ago and still get to play with some of the "old guard" like Moser and Myers on occasion so maybe that dims my interest a bit...
So far this year I have seen Markus Kallstrom (Vastervik Open) and Josh Anthon (Master's Cup) on coverage of events. Both of those guys were runner-up to Nate Doss at one Worlds or another years ago. Doss himself is registered for the Beaver State Fling- hopefully DGPT puts him on a feature...
Waller and New Quarter are only a few minutes apart and would make you a great day trip. New Quarter is very good with a lot of variety and Waller may be the best fully wooded course in VA imo.
