Pros:
The quality of courses keeps improving on Sand Mountain. This course is on land dedicated to disc golf in a spacious city park with no interference from other park activities on this beautiful weekend. There are rolling hills, short and long holes, a great mix with wooded and open, a water shot, new Dynamic Disc baskets (I assume the second set of baskets on each hole are coming), spacious concrete tee pads level to the ground, and excellent signage that can double as a serving tray.
Cons:
Very few cons as I can envision the work that still needs done. Some of the wooded holes are tight with an undefined fairway, but there's plenty of trees marked with a white X that should fix this. Holes 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 and 18 could use a natural fairway pine tree border creating a bomber version of Kerieakes Park (Bowling Green). There's mandos littered throughout the course. I'd love to see those go away and replaced with natural obstacles.
Other Thoughts:
My first thought while playing the first 3 holes was "Oh no, another wide-open boring bomber course". But then I was rewarded for sticking with this course. A ton of fun that will only get better. Looking forward to playing this again if I'm fortunate enough to be in the area again and will update my review accordingly.
