Being renovated in 2023 with potential drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 19, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

Woods golf in Scotland.
Extra holes after the 18 have some real possiblity. These are currently the remains of some old tournament holes and have legit potential. The hole course is supposed to be renovated in the next couple of months - maybe by late summer or fall 2023! I'll have to try it again then...
Up and down the hills have some real views of ... old world Celtic history.
Fair price to pay.

Cons:

Currently they only advertise 18, not the 27 listed before my review. 9 baskets, two tees each. Reds are very short - sub 150' each. Whites aren't much more.
Small stone slab tee pads with little run up.
Many of the signs are incorrect as they are in the middle of renovation.
Several have really tight lines or angles that can't really be thrown.
Several baskets (temp, not bolted into the ground) are in the edges of steep long hills and can very quickly roll or skip 100'+ down a 1to1 slope that's slick with holes that can hide a disc. Dangerous because the tight lines and angles demand risky shots that could quickly put you in danger.

Other Thoughts:

After the 18, one of the guides showed me a longer valley shot from an old tournament that was left and then let me explore. I created 4 extra holes that were beautiful holes, challenging but rewarding, and a lot of fun! Not holes for a new person to try, but excellent to have fun with. Sounds like this may be the way the ongoing renovations are going. If so, I'll have to come back!
Longer tee pads and some rails/breaks to stop rollaways would help, plus some challenging holes for experienced players.
Beautiful property with good potential. And lots of other activities on site.
For now, it's not worth a visit for anyone over 850 rated to enjoy, unless you can try some of the bonus holes or want to do other activities on site.
