Some Baskets Under Trees

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 26, 2024 Played the course:once

Pros:

Basically only played this one because it was between Piccolo and my hotel, and the ambient park lights made it easy to play even after the sun was setting.

It's short and basic but the lines winding through the old hardwood trees are at least somewhat interesting. I think 6 is the only one over 250 and I played with just a Stego and an Envy and felt good about having the shots covered.

Baskets are a mix of orange Mach 3s I think and a couple of disccatchers sort of random but fine.

The aquatic center is very close to the course and has a nice bathroom.

Cons:

It's basically a pitch and putt practice area. No tees, no signs, no prompts of where to go next.

The biggest issue I have though is the tee area are on the walking path and most of the shots play over it. So you will be waiting on clueless pedestrians often. I got several odd looks while waiting for people to clear and I'm sure some of the jogging soccer moms thought I was a creep.

Other Thoughts:

If your close, it has the plus of being able to be played later in the day without issue and you aren't losing a disc here unless you shank it into the pool area or something.

I parred one and it was irritating, you are going to want to be -6 after 6 here.

Pitch and Putt Practice

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 14, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

6 holes with mixed basket (a couple of DGA and a couple of DIScatchers) in fair condition. Course has one token open hole over a large grass patch before heading back under a canopy and playing the rest as wooded with lots of shade. Good short practice, but that's about it.

Cons:

No tee signs. Pads share the asphalt walking path, which IF busy could be a hassle. Road comes into play with high, errant drives on 4-6. Shared usage with a parkour course/walking path.

Other Thoughts:

Nothing to write home about here. Just six holes that can be played three times for eighteen, okay pitch/putt course but that's all. Piccolo is not far away to offer a bit more of a real challenge. Other amenities on site as part of a large city park.

Lather, rinse, repeat if necessary 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 26, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

Short, six hole pitch and putt that's completely flat. Plays through a moderately wooded area with mature trees = good shade on hot south Florida days.

Requires some actual shot shaping and finesse. No real need for drivers, except for maybe the 6th hole.

Tees are marked by a white line on the asphalt walking path that winds it's way through this section of the park. Baskets were a non issue.

Park as a whole, and specifically the area the course is in, is well maintained.

No rough and really no place to lose a disc.

Cons:

Doesn't suck, but it's just 6 holes worth of pitch and putt. There's not a lot to say about it.

The fact that the tees are literally part of the asphalt walking path tells you non-disc golf traffic is a very real possibility.

No signage at all.
1) Look for white line on the asphalt path.
2) Look for the basket.
3) Upon putting out, proceed down the path to the next line.

Other Thoughts:

I'm not going to spend much time on this review, because no one's going to spend much time on this course. Six baskets worth of decent pitch and putt beats watching TV.

Only played here because it's the closest course to my sister's place, so I figured "Why not?" and felt compelled to review it.

You know you're bagging courses if you drive more than 15 min just to play here... not that there's anything wrong with that. ;)

But if you're looking for a more typical disc golf experience, try Brian Piccolo Park only 10 min away . ...might as well bag a 2nd course while your at it. :)
