Pros:
Beatty Ford Park is a beautiful, lakeside park with plenty of amenities, including: restrooms, water fountains, boat ramp, and a playground. The course features nine holes with DISCatcher baskets. It is a relatively flat course, with short distances, which makes it a great course for beginners. However there are actual shots to be shaped here, so even more experienced players will find that there is some fun to be had. The course is overall very beautiful, and rather relaxing.
Hole 5 plays to an elevated basket, located on a mound. This is a pretty cool shot, especially if played similar to an island hole. From where I parked, it made more sense to start on Hole 6 and finish on Hole 5, which made this a fun finishing hole.
Cons:
Beatty Ford Park utilizes natural tees, marked by numbered PVC caps, with no tee signs. This can make finding some of the tees a bit tricky. While navigation was mostly easy to follow, I was glad I had a map so I could find the next tee without walking in the wrong direction. The course could have benefited from having one slightly longer hole. As it stands, every hole is under 250 feet.
I was there in the middle of a weekday, and still had to wait on a few tees for people to walk along the fairway and out of my shot direction. A sign here and there warning park goers about potential flying discs would likely be a benefit, especially Hole 6 which has a semi blind shot.
Other Thoughts:
Overall, Beatty Ford Park is an excellent beginner / pitch-and-putt course that will bring smiles to many of the families that frequent the park. I am going to give a 2.0 rating. If I lived in the area and was playing a round of disc golf with the whole family, or was a beginner, this would easily be my go to location. For other players, this can be combined with the 9 hole course at Rescue Squad Park for a fun, but varied, 18 hole round. The course seems to have been kept in great condition, and the views of the lake from the course are very rewarding.
