Epic, but Fleeting 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 16, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

Much like the Kensington Tobbogan course, this epic track is only available for very short periods during the year. Unlike the DGLO course, you must be either in the event or sign up for the pre-Boomtown practice round to get in. So it's basically tournament only.

What you do get for signing up is a a fairly epic and beautiful experience that would be among the top in the state if it were permanent. An amazing mix of elevation, length and the OB elements of the golf course(cart path, water, bunkers).

From the long tees you play a good amount of or 4s in the 500-900 range and a true booming downhill 5 that clocks in over 1100ft.

From the short tees it's more manageable for those who can hit 500, but make no mistake this is a full day of throwing near full tilt for all but the elite.

Baskets are mainly Chainstar Pros, with red bands. If you played the temporary added 9 at Lula this past year these are those baskets I believe. The end of the course(final 9) are prodigy baskets with blue bands, except for one which is yellow no idea why that is.

Tees are mainly the golf tees or cart path which is great as long as they are fairly dry.

There are several port-a-johns around the property as well as accessible water coolers. As hot as it was today that was most welcome.

Carts are available and though many holes are path only it helps the play greatly.

The hilly terrain with typical north GA pines, mimosas and oaks lining the fairways was quite stunning as are the views from 26/27, you can see all the way to Kennesaw Mountain from that vantage point.

Cons:

The cons are mainly those associated with golf courses, it's not super technical, except on some approaches and if you don't throw far it won't be a good time.

Some people don't like the main challenge of the course to be distance as well as dodging OB. Between the cart paths, water, greens and bunkers there are a lot of OB. I think the course plays very fair and rewards precision but that's my take on it.

Only shade for most of the day is in your cart, and that is also the only place you will be sitting unless you bring your own chair.

The basket change after 18 isn't my favorite as you go from the Chainstar Pros that catch a softer putt really well to the prodigy baskets that you need to putt harder into.

Could be fun to see some more baskets in the woods as well.

Other Thoughts:

Overall, it's an amazing experience and if you are in the area and able to sign up to play at least a practice round.
