This is a course that will really challenge both newbies and old schoolers. If you have a long drive your going to need it but, you better have control. If your a newb play smart and dont try to be a hero or you will be playing from the outskirts all day. Every possible shot you can imagine is here besides water. But this is cedar hell its too hot for water.

I cant really think of any. The signs are better than most, the course is clean, plenty of benches and trash cans. Lots of basket pin changes and pro tee's. The course is never conjested. All I can say is TIIIMBEEEERRRRRR...TREE'S...You are your own enemy here. This course is fun. Cedar hell will eat your disks. I have lost two now and one of them I could see 100 foot up in a tree, but again that is my fault. On 18 you've got 574 feet. Four hundred of which is straight and then a hard right into the woods. Keep it straight as long as possible and vear right towards or into the path, if you shank it left or right your disc is either gone or your coming out bloody. If you do you may find a neat monarch disc...keep it, its yours.

I have yet to play a single digit score on this course....best is 12 and it felt good believe it or not. but today may be the day. Its just 8 minutes from my house...let's get together and conquer the beast. [email protected]

Wide variety of shots. Excellent layout. Course flows nicely. Lots of wooded shots. No problems with overcrowding. I play this course 3-4 times a week and love it. 8 min. up 65N past downtown.

None that I can think of. Excellent course and a must play for Nashville area. Certain holes (7/17/especially 18) can be disc eaters if your not careful. Very few open drives.

It's too hard. Right now (as of 8/2/2010) this course must be set to pro for the summer tourneys because several baskets are in their furthest postitions (Hole 2 502 ft, Hole 18 574 ft.) As a newer player this is intimidating.

Fun course that offers a good challenge - Cedar Hill is situated in a beautiful park and the course makes good use of the land. Holes 1 and 2 are great opening holes, with number two being a sweet hole that finishes in a neat basket near a creek. While the creek didn't have water when we played, it was cool nonetheless. Holes 17 and 18 are really neat finishing holes - the distance on the site for 18 says 365, but it was in the longer pin and was at least 150 longer. I always appreciate a course with two good finishing holes because its the last thing you remember about the course. Hole 10 is a sweet, downhill hole over 550 feet. The hole dives downhill through a tight gap and then ends out in a field. The course has multiple pin placements (A,B,C) and the best thing about the pin placements is the marker system the course employs (and the rest of the courses in the Nashville area employ) - on each tee there is a marker next to the pin placement indicating where the pin is located. This allows for some awesome variation in the holes - the course could be in the mid 4000's and could be in the mid 7000's. I would definitely advise playing this course (and Crockett Park and Seven Oaks) if you are in the Nashville area.

There's not a lot wrong with this course - however, there's nothing with an 'excellent' rating. Holes 3 through 5 seemed to be a little short and seemed like filler holes, but there's nothing wrong with a variety. Another possible con could be the lack of signature holes. While holes 1 and 2 and 17 and 18 were good holes. those are probably remembered more because they are the first two and last two holes on the course. As a side note, the group I was playing with was a little confused as to the other activities going on in the park. I won't express it on this review, but it seemed the park was a 'gathering' place for people and it made someone in the group uncomfortable (if you need to know, PM me).

Overall, a fun course that would be challenging from the C pins (that's what we played that day) and pretty easy from the short pins. I do love the fact that these Nashville courses offer the alternate pin options, and they aren't just alternate pins thrown in after the fact. While nothing really stands out as "awesome" about this course, it was definitely a fun course with a good challenge from the long pins.

One specific hole (17, I think...) is located right next to a public pavillion. Have had problems with non-disc players standing on the fairway not knowing they were in the way. Ended up skipping the hole the few times this has happened. Can be muddy in places.

Plenty of seating and garbage disposal at the pins. Beware the cedar trees... I've climbed up a few to retrieve some discs.

The course is set in a hilly park with lots of trees and brush. The course has it's own property, so there was no interference from any other park users. There was elevation used on most of the holes, which to me makes a course a lot more fun, especially when used well to really give a variety as was done here. There are a few great downhill shots which are always some of the most fun holes to play.

Many of the fairways were lined with cedar trees or other brush to really punish shots that went off line. None were so narrow that they seemed ridiculous, but they were tight enough to really make you work to keep it on the fairways. There was a fun mix of early and late trouble, making every shot count here. I liked the balance of different fairway shapes, it didn't seem repetitive or monotonous in the configuration I played.

There are decent concrete tee pads, and the baskets are in pretty good shape. There are multiple pin positions on every hole, and they looked like they would totally change up the course, both in distances and in types of shots on many holes. The current placement was marked on the sign post, which is always really nice when there are multiple positions, you didn't have to scout ahead just to see where the basket was.

There were a couple tricky spots in terms of navigation, where it wasn't obvious where the next tee was, but none that really made it a chore to follow the course. There were a few places where the course is pretty close to the road, which takes away from the natural feel that helps make the rest of the course so nice.

The tee pads were very slick, even with only a little moisture on them. They just didn't seem to have a good grippy finish on them, which made them a little dangerous to take a real run up on.

This isn't a very beginner friendly course. It is pretty tough, a long hilly walk that didn't really loop back to the parking lot, and lots of places to lose discs or end up stuck in the schule. It's a great place for more experienced players looking for a challenge, with lots of different shots required if you want to score well and stay out of the rough.

This was my favorite of the courses I played in Nashville, and definitely one you should stop by and play if you're in the area. Be prepared for a good hike and a tough course, and you'll probably enjoy it.

This course brings out the best and worst of your game. I could foresee some phenomenal players coming out of this area just because of this course. It has every an opportunity for every kind of shot. Really impressive distance on the course, good elevation change without being overly fatiguing. Nice tee pads, long when they should be. The course was all par 3's, though a couple of holes could have been 4's. It seemed like there were sufficient benches, but I was playing solo, so I couldn't say for sure. 3-5 pin placements per hole, I'm not sure how much they vary them. Great scenery, tons of trees (including cedars). There is a lot of chopped cedar pieces lining the paths too, a really nice touch.

I've seen a lot nicer signs, these were all metal but did the job. I couldn't put my finger on it, but there is something about the course that I didn't like on the layout. Some of the pin placements were tough to navigate, because you couldn't see them. I think if I'd played the course a couple of times and new exactly where to throw it, I would have enjoyed it a lot more. It was a little muddy when I played, but it had just rained. No water holes.

Beware, those who throw tomahawk/thumber only players, this course will swallow you whole. Some locals I talked to said that this course was the best in the area. This course will really test your game. It's one of the most difficult I've played yet.

Excellent signs that show all the possible basket positions, distances, current basket location, location of next tees. 3+ basket positions per hole. Nice, long and wide concrete teepads. Benches at many tees.

Petrol and food not too far away. Part of larger park, but mostly away from other park patrons.

Some holes share basket positions. At times the most visible basket or tee is NOT where you want to go - refer to the sign at the current tee before you throw.

With a number of curving or blind shots and some thick undergrowth, there is a moderate chance to lose a disc.

This course, on every hole, does a great job of blending challenges and fairness. Accurate drives will be rewarded with fairly easy approaches; drives that are somewhat off will make you really work on your second shot; with a poor drive, simply try to avoid a double bogey - or worse.

Most every hole will have a fairway defined by trees and undergrowth. Trees will also normally come into play at a couple points along each hole - midway through your drive, preventing a straightforward approach shot, or somewhat guarding the basket.

Most every hole will also have some change of elevation - up, down, rolling - but nothing to severe. Very nice blend of right/left turning, low ceiling, upshot holes.

Despite the lack on an online map, the course is fairly easy to navigate, with some additional directional signs along the way.

Favourite hole: The day I played, #16. Long shot slightly uphill, woods on left, some trees on right. After cresting the hill, another long shot, slightly downhill, basket tucked several feet into the end of the woods on the left.

Well Designed. This course has a great deal of variation of holes. There are some long, tight downhill shots, some open right turners, and many holes where shot choice can make or break you. Bring your full game and a variety of plastic for this one.

- Hole one was a fairly simple medium-long hyzer shot. It didn't seem like anything really special, but then we got to hole 2. A nice right turning hole to a basket nestled behind a bubbling brook with moss on the ground. This is one ofe the most beautiful holes I've played to. It was a pleasure tossing my disc in there.

- The course has many beautiful holes and the designer made great use of the trees and open areas to force different lines. These are well thought out, not just dropped in the middle of some trees because it would look tough. There is a point to each location and it was fun to try and determine what the designer was thinking at each location.

- Good shots are rewarded and bad shots can be devastating, just as it should be.

- There is a lot here for newer players too. There are enough open holes that a newer player wouldn't be TOO frustrated, but it's certainly not a beginner/easy course.

- Good concrete pads.
- Great signage (Tee maps - with distances from both Tees to each pin position- and Next Tee signs).
- Good parking right by hole 1 tee and 18 pin.
- The park itself is beautiful and has a HUGE kids playground thing. Seriously. the thing is huge and my kids would have stayed for hours if given the chance.
- Easy to follow course layout and obviously loved by the locals. Defined paths and signs between holes.
- There were some people on the course, but it wasn't crowded. The DG course is off by itself, so I don't think casual park folks or picnics would often get in the way.

- No nearby bathrooms, though there was a port-a-john set up the day we were there.

- I can't emphasize how much fun this course was to play. We made a trip because of the reviews here and my whole family loved it. Every time I head up north from Atlanta, i am going to make an effort to stop in and play this course.

Hard to add much to what's already been said. Very well-designed holes with clear and reasonable landing areas, and sufficient punishment if you miss them. There's a lot of elevation in play, but I only recall one hole where it's severe.

The cedar trees, if you've never met them before, are infallible disc-catchers; where they are in the fairways they provide excellent absolute obstacles for you to avoid, "or else".

All holes are well-designed, providing interesting challenges and a variety of throws, plus some fairway management on the longer holes.

Very convenient to several highways and major roads, so easy to stop in an play while passing through Nashville. Despite which, it's pretty and peaceful. The course is off to itself in a state-park-like property.

Seems to me this course is best scaled for Advanced and average Pro players. Probably a bit of a burden for beginners and weaker players, but top players may find it more fun than challenging.

I played Cedar Hill twice at 2001 Am Worlds, and have made a point to stop by and play it while passing through Nashville on several subsequent trips. Nashville has a number of good courses, but this is my favorite.

Wow, I had heard that this is a superb course but it really passed my expectations. I think it has a little bit of everything wrapped up into one nice disc golf course package. First of all, you are in an area that seems to be dedicated to disc golf alone. You can just get out there and play without any distractions, save the road on a few holes. It is simply a beautiful park boasting a beautiful course. It is just minutes off the I-24 so getting there is not a problem if you are traveling through the area.

This is the kind of course that you will remember for quite some time after playing. The first thing I recalled after leaving the park was the fairways. While they are challenging and at times affectionately frustrating, they are just that, "FAIR"ways. I don't remember any holes that were unfair or impossible to clear. Some holes were tight at times but the baskets are approachable every time. The course seems to use the beauty of the landscape perfectly. Not only is most of the course very scenic but you will find shots of every type. There is no chance of becoming agitated by what seems to be the same old hole over and over and over. You will find uphill, downhill, "S" shaped, doglegs left and right, tight, and lastly a couple of relatively open fairways. It also boasts a wide range of lengths as well. Most holes are longer than usual and that adds to the challenge nicely. This is a great course for all. It is full of lessons learned for beginners and plenty of challenge for the experienced. Bring all of your discs and all your shots, you will need them!

Concrete tee pads are always a plus. The signs are in great shape and show all of the alternate pin placements and even suggest what must be the most popular and logical path to the baskets. Having the option to move the baskets to several different positions on each hole means that you most likely will see new personalities to the course each time you play. They use a nice and simple system to indicate the basket position. The baskets themselves are also in good shape and serve their purpose well.

Truly there are not many.

After playing behind what was a heavy day of rain I found the pads very slippery. I think that even just some summer dew would have the same effect. Evidence of repairs using some small pebbles somehow adhered on a few of them helped but an overhaul would be welcomed.

The road and its noise near the middle of the course are distracting. It is too bad there is not a buffer of trees blocking the street from view. It takes away from what would otherwise give you eighteen holes of what would seem like pure disc golf solitude.

In my view this is a must play. It really offers the best of what disc golf has to offer. If you are playing in the middle Tennessee area you have to put this one on your list. You won't be disappointed. Enjoy!

Amazing hole design, clean, variety of holes from woods to open straights. Not usually very busy (depending on which day you go of course)

If there is any wind it can ruin a few of the holes (can not remember which ones sorry). streets somewhat close by to some of the tee's and holes, not heavily trafficed though, since it is a park road. If it rains there are some extremely muddy patches.

I have only played Crocket park and Seven Oaks (close-by courses) but Cedar Hill was by far the best of the three.

Beautiful course design, displaying rolling fairways and neatly tucked multiple pin placements. Big elevation on a couple holes, but mostly varying doglegs and mature trees. One of my favorite courses and right off the interstate, so it's easy to find.

The locals seem a little friendly, some guy asked if he could change my oil.

Nashville has a true gem of a course here. I only wish I lived closer.

What a wonderful setting for a course. Each hole has from 3-6 basket placements. Their placements are represented by screws w/red washers on the metal tee signs. The screw in the B slot means the basket is in the B position. That's the one simple thing about this otherwise complex course. These A,B,C layouts can sometimes range from 200' to almost 700''. This makes playing this course a totally different experience each time you play. The basket placements can be in some extremely difficult positions, tucked away deep in the wooded rough. There are some long, blind holes requiring accurate drives to par. (More about par later). I was lucky and had my wife and daughter both ahead of me spotting. Playing by myself for the first time, this saved me a lot of time hunting for errant drives and finding baskets. There is some elevation change. I was able to muscle up and throw my longest on a couple of holes but I'm pretty much of a wimpy, 275' driver. There are some tight dogleg shots and I thought the course was fair to both righties and lefties. There were some scattered benches to rest on. It does take about 2 hours to play. Bring water.

I guess it's not a beginner/family friendly course. It's certainly a hike. I didn't like the blind throws and did notice a certain similiarity to many holes. A long narrow fairway, with the basket tucked 50-75' into the woods at the end.

I guess with 3-6 basket placements per hole, ranging from 200' to 700', you just kind of throw par out the window here. I don't know how you could determine a par for this course when many holes could be played anywhere from par 3's to legimate par 5's. I've heard many players say they don't care about the par. I think I do care. I'm not complaining. It just seemed kind of odd for me to play a hole and not be thinking, "Well, another par" or "Cool, a birdie" or for me on this course, "Not another bogie." Overall, it's a wonderful challenging throw.

Very challenging. This is probably the toughest course in the Nashville area. Although it can be tough, it is not impossible, making it fun to play. Nice fairways, good layout, and terrific scenery. Good variety from hole to hole- no 2 holes are the same. Makes good use of elevation- a couple of fun longer downhill holes.

Each hole has multiple basket locations (they seem to be moved decently often) which make many of the holes very different depending on hole location.

*Update* now 21 holes as of 2018. 3 shorter technical woods holes are inserted in between #2 and #3 (look for a path to the left off #2's fairway.

*Update #2* brand new baskets are in!!! Much needed so thanks to whoever was responsible. They are bright cherry red discatchers and look and catch great.

Can get a little confusing moving from hole to hole if it is your first time playing it. Multiple baskets visible from certain spots make it hard to tell which one is the correct one as some holes run close to others. And many holes have up to 5 possible basket locations (which can vary drastically) so some seeking is required for first times on a couple tee shots.

Baskets are older and not all the same style. Signs are still the old ones.

This is an upper level course (not suited for beginners). Many people list this as their favorite in Middle TN. It is a must play if you are an experienced player in the Nashville area!!!

I originally rated this as a 4.5 many years ago, but have since reduced it to a 4.0 for a couple reasons: I have played many more courses since, and it could use an upgrade with tee signs and navigation signs. However, the shot-making, scenery and hole diversity are still excellent.

This course is one of my favorites. Great challenge, beauty and fun. The course has many great old trees, particularly the cedars, aka "bunkers in the sky".

There's a good deal of elevation change and variety of holes. The variety of basket locations make for a unique experience on multiple visits.

The course has a great balance between offering opportunities for power players the chance to crush, but not without taking risks. The fairways are appropriately wide for the lengths of shots required.

This course is a complete challenge and will be mastered by very few players.

I do concur with another reviewer that some of the tee pads are slick.

The absolute worst thing about this course is that it's located 800+ miles from my house.

Remember: Don't be a dirty disc golfer. If you pack it in, pack it out!

Very challenging course that requires a wide range of shots. You have to be able to control your distance and shot shape or you will find some very think rough. There are well defined fairways but if your not in them your in trouble. Multiple pin locations that are changed periodically. It has dog legs left and right. The fairways are fair.

A little bit of to much of the same thing for me. Pretty much every hole is in the woods with a nice fairway gaurded by thick cedar trees and heavy brush. They also don't mow very often in the summer. I wish this course had one hole were you could rip it full power. All of the hole require to much controll to try to bomb one, although I have had a few huge drives on 15, but you have to be reall accurate to risk it.

This is a really nice hard course that is a must play if you are in the Nashville area. You have to be able to shape your shots in every way possible on this course. Anything in the 50's for the average disc golfer is going to be a pretty good score.

Clean, multiple pin locations, variety of shots, tight woods and a few open holes.

Cedar Hill is obviously one big hill. It takes a full 2 hours to play by yourself. There is a good deal of uphill hiking.

Easily the best metro Nashville course. I apologize as this was my first attempt at reiviewing on this site...and it was a long time ago. This course is a gem. I still consider it to be the best overall design in metro Nashville. The park itself is well cared for, and fairly safe. It is not in the greatest neighborhood, but I have never felt any amount of fear here. There are some amazing holes here. On the front nine there is a long downhill tunnell shot, branches to the right at the bottom of the hill. I think the hole length is around 700 feet for this hole, but that is going only by memory. Hole 18 is one of my favorite holes anywhere. You tee off from just inside the woods, out into an open field. The pin is tucked slightly in the woods and on top of a mound. The hole is nearly 500 feet. (again, if my memory is correct)
