Its a course. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 9, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

-There are baskets, they are new within the year
-It is pretty
-The drive up is scenic
-18 is a cool shot

Cons:

-Mtn Course, need a LOT of water in the summer
-Almost all downhill shots are death shots.
-Wind you cant see or feel changes disc path closer to basket which on a flat not mountainous course would be fine but here it is detrimental
-Nothing was cut, all thigh high grass
-You CANNOT play this course without a spotter or 7 because the terrain hides where the disc hit and skipped or landed and rolled
-Many holes are straight back up the hill which is miserable t to 400 down 300 up 400 down etc, especially with grass and sage that covers the ground so you cannot tell whats solid or rocks or a hole.

The lift is ONLY OPEN SATURDAYS. You will have to get a ride up otherwise which the crew is willing to do.

Other Thoughts:

Bring extras of everything minus a putter. The course was put in within a year ago of this post and it shows. They just put the course up because it sounded like a low cost investment and didn't think about pin placement too well.

Truly beautiful course, don't get me wrong. In the mountains. If you've wound up in this area and want to spend 4 hours losing discs in the mountain then this is for you. Go north or go south but this course was not a course to just go play.

Super fun throw down 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 2, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Downhill throws galore, which is great for weak arms. Who doesn't love airing out those discs for some big hang time!
-Good variety of shots needed, along with the added bonus of learning how to adjust for the downhill shots.
-Even though a fair number of holes have few obstacles, there is still a high degree of risk due to the slopes and the likelihood of overshooting the baskets.
-Putting here is rarely basic with the sloping and/or tree laden greens.
-You get plenty of hiking in, with wonderful views.
-Cost is VERY reasonable.
-You might have the mtn. to yourself.

Cons:

-The usual stuff that comes with a mtn. course - bring plenty of water, lost discs are a high probability (use a spotter), you could slip and fall (wear boots), and the fairways are not manicured (but who cares?)
-Bigger time commitment than many courses, due to the drive time and ride up the mtn. (esp. if the lift is not running).
-Could be a bit rough on beginners, but could be worse for sure, as there are still a good number of short holes. And unlike pros/strong arms, beginners are less likely to overshoot the precarious greens.

Other Thoughts:

If you love disc golf, live anywhere within a 200 mile radius or more (hehe) or are traveling through the area, and love playing a variety of courses, this is a MUST.

Unique disc golf experience 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 29, 2017 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This is a super fun mountain course with shots that you won't find any where else in the world. I'm fairly confident that the 30 degree grade and 106 foot drop on #15 is steeper than any other disc golf hole in the world. #18 is a lot of fun as you try to make it 900 feet down the mountain in one throw.

The course has a variety of different shot types, beautiful scenery and it's just fun being up on the mountain.

Cons:

The hours that Cherry Peak is available for rides to the top are limited. Unfortunately they are not open very early in the morning or late in the evening.

There is not a lot of shade on the course so it can get pretty hot in the afternoon. The downward slopes and potential for errant shots is higher than average and relatively tall vegetation provides potential to lose a disc or two.

Other Thoughts:

You'll definitely get your exercise in while playing Cherry Peak. The steep nature of the down hill hike might be too much for people who are in poor shape. You may want to consider bringing a walking stick.

Call ahead to schedule your ride up the mountain on days other than Saturday when the lift is not running (435) 200-5050
