Good, sort of, I don't really know actually 2+ years

Pros:

For the most part, City Lake Park is a pretty average beginner-level course. 7 of the 9 holes play out in the open with few obstacles to contend with and gently rolling hills. The course has concrete tee pads, brand new DisCatchers and detailed tee signs. Navigation is fairly straight forward, even the long walk between holes 4 and 5 is easy and an all-around pleasent walk.

Hole 3 is the best hole on the course with a tough, but fair line off the tee as the hole is guarded by trees throughout. Hole 8 is another hole that sticks out as being a solid hole. It has a good amount of downhill elevation with a few lines offered to contend with the group of large trees in the middle of the fairway.

Cons:

Hole 4 is one of the worst abominations of a hole I have had the displeasure to play. It's not immediately clear where you need to throw to off the tee, but the best play is to lay up in the clearing and then turn 90 degrees to pitch through a 100' tunnel that is no more than 5' across. The entry to the tunnel isn't clear, and you could potentially throw just a bit too far if you don't know where it is and throw into the surprise creek that can't be seen from the tee.

Overall, the one big con is that the course is pretty uninspiring and a tad bland. Beyond hole 4, the course is fine. Not great, but just fine. Don't expect something special here.

Other Thoughts:

Siloam Springs recently got this course along with the one at John Brown. Both can be played in tandem fairly quickly. I rate John Brown has the better of the two courses. That course has more variety and a higher degree of difficulty than what is offered here.

Though like I mentioned, it's not the worst course in the world, but definitely not the best.
