Pros:
- Concrete tees
- Quality baskets
- Informative Tee signs
- Very cart friendly
- 2 pin locations per hole
- Man-made obstacles have been added
- Seasonal restrooms onsite (locked in winter)
- Well cared for
- Dark paths (fairways?) lead to each pin location
Cons:
- Rattlesnakes
- Uninspiring play
- Could be brutally hot in summer with no shade
- Mostly dirt = mostly mud after a rain or snow
- Open spaces along the Front Range tend to be windy
- Flat and short
Other Thoughts:
Civic Center DGC plays in a flat, mostly dirt field with man-made obstacles (large vertical poles) serving as the only challenge to the basket.
Concrete Tees here are a great touch.
I've been all over Colorado and I've never seen so many rattlesnake signs in one area. Just saying.
I'm writing this review since the others here are very outdated, and this course is being misrepresented. One common complaint has been addressed...there are now large pole obstacles in place, but the field is so large, there still isn't much to challenge the player.
I do wish I had updated the pictures though. This place looked much better today, and one thing that stood out was how well cared for this dry, dusty field was. There is a wide, dark path that leads from each Tee to each pin location. I've never seen this done before, to this extent, just to make a boring field play better? Or maybe...
...The paths are about 10'-12' wide. Not really a fairway, but for a challenge, this course can be played with everything but the dark ground as OB. Add a few Mandos with the new poles, and you can have a challenging round.
If you plan to bag all of Pueblo, I'd start here first as a warmup. Play the College next and save the City Park for last.
This is a plain but very passable course. Worth the detour? Probably not unless you're a bagger. But if you are a bagger, this place is too close to City Park to pass up.
The care given to this place showed, and it's the reason I felt a need to review this place. Kudos to the crew for putting forth the effort, and thanks for a memorable round.
