Pros:
I came here right before the dawn on a Friday morning . Clayton State University looks to be a small college setting just off of I-75 , right below Atlanta . The Rec center and some of the athletic fields sit to your right as you drive through part of the campus . There were 5 baskets that I found 2 blue and 3 orange . The University looks great .Nice bathrooms in the rec center . That's about it .
Cons:
According to the map I printed off , this is also where the whole disc golf course is supposed to be . I went into the Rec center just before 8 and asked a nice student where I could find the start of the disc golf course , but she knew nothing about disc golf . I went outside and followed the map , walking the course from hole 9 to where 1 should have been .The baskets are the temporary ones you find at temporary courses , only cheaper . 2 of them were sitting next to or against fences , and the other 3 that I found were dispersed into where part of the course supposedly was . I found 2 small rocks that I guess were there to make a tee pad for #9 . Nothing on the rocks , just rocks . No NEXT TEE signs , no idea where to stand for the baskets that were up . Disc Risk : Little , but does it matter ? I safaried this course for about 20 minutes , making up 9 holes out of maybe 4 playable baskets , then left . I can't imagine that they moved or put away these baskets because of another athletic event going on ( In January ? ) .
Other Thoughts:
I really have trouble considering Clayton State having a disc golf course . This is more like 5 portable baskets that you can set to your liking and teeing off . I only gave it a .5 because I liked the idea of mixing blue and orange baskets on every other hole . Maybe the baskets are here to introduce a few curious students to the game . I always think that a well thought out University Disc golf course can be used to help showcase a school to the locals and some touring families or fellow disc golf fanatics . My Recommendation : At present , I would tell everyone but the hard core course bagger to avoid this place if looking to get in a round . Not worth the effort , the time or the gas . There are lots of quality course both to the north and south of here .
