Pros:
Three practice baskets in an open-ish area in an apartment complex. Sure.
- If I lived here, I'd love having 3 spaces out like this. Sure, your neighbors will think you're weird walking back and forth with a disc in one hand and a beer in the other.
- I would say this defines the idea of a practice area. If you're here, you're practicing putts or approach shots. If you're trying to unleash drives, you're probably angering neighbors.
- For those who try to play this as an actual course, you'll play the three baskets, turn around and play them backwards for a six-hole layout.
- For those who may play here, yes you can carry two discs in one hand and a canned beverage in the other. For the frat boys, you'll be fine even in your flip flops too.
Cons:
Safety issues
- Grass areas are narrow fairways. Trying to unleash long tee shots is not a smart decision. One stray shot and you could have major issues.
- Baskets are also near other apartment features, specifically the volleyball court and dog waste stations. I mention the second one because this is the area it seems many people walk their dogs. Watch your step.
- There are no designated tee markers. Makes sense as to not encourage people trying to do anything more than putt / short shots.
- For the odd looks you'll get from other people, I can't help you with that.
Other Thoughts:
Three baskets spread out over a small open area. I'd guess if you threw from basket-to-basket, you're in the 275 - 300 foot range.
- Sure, if I lived here, I could see myself possibly using the baskets to putt. I'd be more likely to do so if I had a group of neighbors and you could form a putting league of some sorts.
- Here's where the baskets would be fun. If I lived on the top floor and I had a line from my balcony to one of the baskets, I would be doing that all the time. And you better believe I'd be recording my attempt at a cubby ace.
- That last thing is probably the best thing this course has to offer. It's the best reason to have these baskets.
