Darrington Dark Park Course Passes The Test!

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Oct 2, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

For a small town rec course, Dark Park DGC is not bad. When you're 27 miles from the next nearest course down in Arlington, you don't have to be great just decent. The little course starts just behind the MARC building (Is this a building owned by Marc?) at the SW corner. I wasn't exactly sure which corner that was so I tried both. Baskets 1-3 are in this little section of Harold Engles Park. The hole lengths here are about 150'. I found two of the small t-pads here. The baskets are the white Patriot Dynamic Discs models with the small bands. There are no signs.

Cross the street to find the last 6 holes. # 4 tee pad is right next to the pawn shop parking lot and plays about 200'. One problem here is your best line probably has you throwing directly down the street. The good news is, other than the occasionally logging truck, you aren't liable to encounter any other traffic. # 5 plays out but then the new # 6 change threw me off here. I found 7-8-9 without much problem other than a homeless dude sleeping in the my way on # 8. I'm really shocked that the red neck loggers up here allow a homeless guy to clutter up their town's park.

Cons:

No signs.

No # 7 basket after remodel.

Homeless guy napping on the # 8 fairway.

Pitch and putt distances.

Other Thoughts:

Being the only show in Darrington, this course is pretty adequate. I'm sure the layout change is not as difficult as I made it out to be. Actually, if the move was predicated on some problems with errant discs flying here and there, that at least proves that there are some players here-a-bouts. And I reckon that's a good problem of having. If I was a logger and I lived here in Darrington, you'd mostly likely find me here on the course playing in my corks, my striped Hickory shirt and my cut off black pants. Maybe wearing my hard hat to protect me from all those errant throws flying around.
