Short, Well-Equipped Course

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 22, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nice and easy-to-find "course intro" area, with course map, message board, practice basket, and paving stones marking various distances from the basket for practice or putting games.

Blue Prodigy baskets, set at the right height, numbered, and easy to spot.

Level, grippy, and very large tee pads that would be the envy of many championship courses. These pads are great!

Informative tee signs that feature the hole number, distance, and a photo of the hole taken from the pad, with red lines superimposed on the photo to show possible lines to throw to the pin. I haven't seen tee signs done this way before, but it works!

Many amenities around the green areas, including newly-planted trees, plants, and aesthetically-pleasing rock work on some holes that influences how those holes are played. A lot of work has clearly gone into this course.

Other amenities in the park, including pavilions, restrooms, and a splash pad near the tee of hole 15. (On a 95-degree afternoon, I definitely gave some thought to heading over there!)

Most holes are short and have a few trees or other obstacles to avoid.

Cons:

The course is almost completely flat.

Much of the course plays right next to park roads or even over them. Definitely watch for cars before throwing on many of the holes.

Several holes play very close to one another. The best tee shot for hole 14 throws directly though the putting circle for basket 11. Several tee pads are close to other baskets (not crazy close, but definitely in the possible danger zone).

There are some long walks between holes, especially 9 to 10, 14 to 15, and 17 to 18. Hole 18 actually plays directly away from the practice basket and hole 1, so if you have parked near hole 1's tee, the last thing you do is walk all of hole 18 again in reverse after playing it.

Other Thoughts:

This is a fun, short, well-equipped course and is worth a stop if you are driving through the area. Only 3 holes are longer than 300 feet (two of them are over 400), but I think it fits the needs of a small community and would be a good place to learn and practice the sport.

Fun course to play 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 15, 2022 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

For a beginner like myself it was a nice course to play. Very nice concrete pads and signage for the holes. The course while pretty much wide open offered a nice leisurely day to play a round with my wife who is also a beginner. The trees came into play on several holes which made for some fun holes to work around them.

Cons:

Holes 12, 13, and 14 are bunched up to the point where we actually had to figure out 13 our first time to play. The grass was high at 13 and the pad is on the other side of a drainage ditch with no bridge. If it is holding water you will get wet getting to it. From there 15 is a hike to reach on the other side of a ball park as well as reaching 18 from 17.

Other Thoughts:

I am no pro by any means lol but I believe they could have stretched the course a bit allowing for 12, 13, and 14 to have a better layout as well as allowing 18 to be more in line with the rest of the course rather than just finding a place to place a hole by #1.
All in all we will play it again for sure.

mainly wide open 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 21, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course is easy to find, and you can park right at hole 1. It plays through a recreation area from concrete pads to blue discatcher baskets. Each tee has a nice tee sign as well with distance and route marked. I kind of like the signs with old pictures of the course because you can see what it looks like in a different season, or when the course was newer.

The holes are mainly pretty open though. Some do bring some trees into play, but there really aren't any gaps you need to hit, lines you need to pure, just whether you want to go right/left, and how wide. It's all kind of up to you.

There's some good use of various distances, and even a water feature on hole 10.

Cons:

I do think it gets a little boring, and the design really drops off towards the end. After about hole 13 it just kind of plays around some baseball fields (and right at one), and the last hole is a long walk back towards the parking lot, then just a wide open 160' hole away from the parking lot. It really was just a "find space for one more hole no matter how bad just to get us to 18" kind of decision.

There was nothing at all particularly great about the course, or challenging. There's a long walk from hole 9 to 10, which is in a different part of the park.

Other Thoughts:

It was a fun round, worth the stop. Definitely adds something unique here to Crockett, TX, but not particularly unique compared to any other disc golf course. I'm rating this a solid, and satisfying Typical course.

Fun easy course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 30, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

Course map on Kiosk
Round 9 practice basket
Family friendly course, not too long, not too short

Cons:

Long walks between some of the holes
Grass was pretty high on 3 of the holes in a corner of the park
dirt tee pads at the moment

Other Thoughts:

This course is exactly what it should be, a family friendly course in a small town.
Most of the holes are under 300ft and none of them are really that hard. There are a couple of longer holes that are mostly wide open shots.

I loved the pond shot, you can do a skip type hyzer around the pond or a nice short turnover over the pond.

the hole between the baseball fields is the longest hole on the course and with the nicely mowed grass is great for rollers.

The polls for the tee signs have been installed, but the signs have not been made yet.
I know one of the holes was missing the day I played, found out that hole is being moved as the city is putting in a splash pad in that area.

Would I play here again. Well, I am not driving hours again to play here, but if I was in the area, I would enjoy a round here. This is suppose to be a family/Rec course as there is not really any disc golfers in Crockett. This course could build them.
