Pros:
-Well kept and easy to navigate. Nicely moved grass, trimmed rough and no harmful plants that I encountered
-Good quality course equipment. Tee signs and concrete tees for every hole
-Well targeted layouts. The short course is a true beginner course, and the main layout would cater well for the average 850 rated player whilst still being fun for better players
-Some variation in hole design (uphill, sidehill, tunnel shots, water carries) adds interest over the round
-Playable solo! For those of us without friends this is always nice to have!
-The park aesthetic is really pretty. The winding canals through the park are beautiful and one particular water carry (hole 14) would make a great painting
-Free!
-Reasonably well connected to public transport (I played whilst travelling by rail)
Cons:
-No par 4s :'(
-Bogey is really challenging to take
-It's still by and large open park style golf, and very few of the holes had me itching to throw extra shots
-No other facilities (toilets etc) I could find at the park
Other Thoughts:
I saw other people out playing whilst I was there which was nice, unfortunately I don't speak dutch so I didn't say hi but we shared friendly waves.
This is the kind of course I wish the UK had more of: accessible to everyone, free and targeted to the main demographic's skill level.
