Pros:

Dream Big is a nicely wooded 12 hole course located at the Tigerton OHV Park and Campground. The course is free to play but donations are welcome. I didn't see a place to donate by the kiosk/board by the parking lot. I didn't see anything really mentioning disc golf on that board actually.

There's gravel/natural tees on the holes. There's red and gold tees. The golds are just longs and reds shorts basically. The gravel ones on the reds, which I played, are in decent shape and got the job done pretty well. The golds looked a little rougher from the few I walked past. Probably less played I'd assume. Nice that there's two pads though.

The course plays in a clockwise manner south of the main parking lot. The flow is very easy to follow once you locate the first hole. A couple longer walks, but nothing too crazy at all. The trails between holes are pretty well defined in the otherwise dense woods. I don't believe I had to check the map at all. Maybe once.

The design here is well thought out. The property is picture perfect for disc golf. Thick woods with some slight elevation mixed in and some cool natural rock features too. Just a pretty little spot for a course. Hole 12 is a cool finishing hole being pretty tight and wooded and playing slightly uphill. Hole 2 was another cool one with the rock field just off the tee pad. Very unique for this part of WI. Hole 5 is probably the signature hole with the pin placed up a pretty steep hillside. Dangerous putt and just a visually appealing hole in general.

The baskets are Mach III's that were all in great shape and caught good. I think there was some alternate pin placements out there, I think. One basket per hole though.

There's tee signs for each tee pad too. The reds are just a red painted board with very basic info. The golds are arrow shaped pieces of wood with the same type of info on them. Nothing special, but at least they help with locating the tee areas. Better than nothing.

Cons:

The tee pads aren't the greatest. The gravel was grippy enough but they're on the smaller side. Gravel pads don't drain very well from my experience and being heavily wooded this is going to be extra magnified with the lack of direct sunlight.

The rough is pretty ridiculous in many places. I lost a disc on hole 7 I believe. It's like it just vanished into a wormhole or something. That wasn't even the worst area by any stretch. It gets a little sketchy in the summer, that's for sure.

The main attraction at this place is off-roading. So it's not very peaceful SOUNDING despite the serene views throughout. Lots of ATV noises which kind of wrecks the vibe after a little bit.

A map can be useful if it's your first time. Like I said above, I don't think I used it except to get to the first hole. There are a few spots where you may end up taking the wrong path or just not see a tee pad. Not a major con but It'd be a good idea to at least have one available if you need it.

The bugs weren't too terrible, but were present. Be aware of this. It was deer flies more than mosquitoes. Still annoying and bug spray doesn't do anything for them. Lots of sharp and itchy plants just off the fairways. Sometimes on them in places. You'll probably be itchy one way or another after playing here.

Other Thoughts:

This was a really solid course despite the cons i listed. I had a great time here. It'd be cool if they could expand this to 18 holes somehow, but either way 12 is better than 9 in my book. Definitely worth a visit if you find yourself over this way. It's not too far off of Hwy 29 either. I'd recommend this one.

Lives up to the Name 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 29, 2021 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

1) Hole design and variety here is magnificent. The course is all par 3s and they tend towards the shorter/more technical side of the spectrum, but there are holes of all shapes, sizes, and elevation profiles. The only thing I'd say is missing is a hole that really begs you to take out a distance driver. There aren't any two holes here that feel the same. No lines you are asked to throw here are even remotely unfair, but they are, for the most part, all still technical and will punish a poor shot.

2) Landscaping and maintenance are good. The grass on the first hole was a little bit wild, but mostly everywhere else is great. A few baskets and tees have built up rock walls around them and despite the tees being gravel they are all perfectly level and in basically perfect shape. The best gravel tees I've ever played on.

3) Speaking of the tees, there are two of them on every hole. On a few holes they are just the lazy 'same shot, but longer' version of multiple tee pads, but over half of them they do ask you to throw different lines or in some other way make the hole noticeably different than the other tee.

4) Baskets are cheaper DGA Mach baskets, but they are newer models and catch fine. Nothing to complain about with them. A few holes do have multiple basket placements, but I have no knowledge of if they get moved around on a regular basis or not.

5) Navigation is generally easy. Near the baskets there is usually some form of marker pointing to the next tee or an obvious walking path.

6) Unique, for Wisconsin, landscape. This was the most surprising thing (and what I enjoyed most) about the course. Hole 1 is a typical hole, still great. But then hole two plays over the closest thing to a boulder field that I've ever seen in the Midwest. Holes 4 and 5 play through and extremely natural section of the forest, more or less free from typical invasives that are around the Midwest. Hole 5 is just beautiful; large oaks and maples with a clean grassy forest floor with the basket perched up on an exposed rock formation. There are a few areas where if you aren't paying attention, you could take a tumble (namely the rock garden on hole 2 and towards the end of the fairway on hole 7), so maybe pay a little bit extra attention when walking the course than you usually would.

7) Great location. The course is in an underserved area of the state, located on a campground with tons of activities on site. Namely, the ATV trails and Motocross track. This could be seen as a con, as it can get quite noisy when the facility is busy. But the course is on its own area of the property and, especially around holes 5, 6, 7, 8, and 10, is secluded from everything else on site and neighboring properties.

Cons:

1) While the course appears to be generally very well maintained I still want to mention a couple minor things here. On the back half of the course a few of the tee pads were overrun by leaves, so it doesn't look like anyone is out on a regular basis to basic maintenance. It's not really an issue, but it was slightly annoying to have to clear off the pads myself and if it was wet out could make the pads very slippery. There was also a tree that had fallen down right across the walking path between holes 6 and 7 that made the walk between the two holes a little tricky. Lastly, on the edge of the forested area (mostly just holes 8 and 9) the rough is pretty much just thick patches of thorny bushes. It's easy enough to avoid it, but going in it is certainly a terrible experience, much worse than it needs to be.

2) Tee signs are very bare bones. They just have the hole number and distance. The distances range from spot on to nearly 50 feet off based on what I got with my rangefinder. There is also no indicator of basket location on the holes that have multiple location.

3) Nit picking now, only 12 holes despite what looks like more than enough room to get 18 quality holes in place.

4) Though the pads are in wonderful shape, they are only gravel so objectively it is something I must mention here.

Other Thoughts:

Overall, Dream Big is a very good, possibly great, course for what it is, but gets brought down by some minor issues. The natural beauty on parts of the course and the great fun factor combine to provide a great experience. I see myself making return trips here when I am in the area and I highly recommend it to anyone else, maybe as far away as the Fox Cities if you are up for a day trip. If you are a course bagger, this is a must play if you are driving down Hwy 29 and have any spare time in your trip.

It's been said this course was getting concrete pads and expanding to 18 holes "soon" since the course has gone in, but it's been over 3 years and I didn't see any sign of them going in during my visit. When these upgrades do occur, and if the new holes remain high quality, I see absolutely no reason this couldn't be a 4-star course once (if) that happens. The course is certainly listening to itself and dreaming big, and I hope to see the potential realized in the future.

Note: This review was written a few days after I played the course in September of 2021, but I just forgot to post it for a few months. *facepalm* Everything in the review is as I originally wrote it, so it's still my usual quality and not just cobbled together from little bits I can remember from 5 months ago. Haha.

Neat course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 20, 2021 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Neat spot for a disc course, it plays around a little crick/pond, with some really nice woods. There is a good amount of topography that comes into play as well. 2 pads per hole with a variety of shots.

Cons:

The pads aren't the best and the first 3 holes are next to the campground and a couple are right next to the ATV area. Only 12 holes and not a lot of length.

Other Thoughts:

Definetly worth playing when in the area and its close to some other courses like the 9 hole in Marion.

Course under construction. Still pretty good. 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 5, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Great use of topography
- multiple tees (2) per hole
- Good balance of shot shapes

Cons:

- Signage could use improvement
- Could use some multi-shot holes
- non-'permanent' tees

Other Thoughts:

** Course is under construction. Course is rated on its condition at the time of this review and will be revised as improvements are made **

The course is built on ground adjacent to the Embarrass River ATV park. The land used is very wooded with rolling, rocky terrain. The course is slated to be 18 holes, with 12 of them currently in the ground. The course begins in close proximity to the parking lot.

Tees are constructed of crushed rock. Tee signage consists of red or white simple wooden signs that correspond to the long and short tees. Only basic information is included on the signs, such as hole number and distance. A graphic of the hole would be helpful, as some of the baskets are not visible from the tees. There are some arrows near the baskets and little flags along pathways that aid players in finding the next tees.

The holes provide a good balance of left-to-right, right-to-left and straight shots. The course makes good use of the existing trees and ground slope, of which there is plenty.

There is a reasonable walk from the last hole (#12) back to the parking lot.

In general, it's a fun course to play. The long tees were reasonable for the 900-950 rated player.
