Lots of open baskets

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Oct 27, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Hole 1 is a big downhill throw, great start to a round
- Lots of room to throw for the big arms
- Beautiful discatcher baskets
- Concrete tee pads
- long par 4 finisher
- Easy navigation except for hole 5
- Some elevation

Cons:

- Way too open for my taste
- Distances are too long for beginners and too short for advanced players
- A number of crossing fairways and greens
- Course has been redesigned and tee pads don't fit baskets

Other Thoughts:

When you get to the tee pad for hole 1 you will look down and see all of the 9 baskets, most in the open field. Several baskets in the open are close to one another, surprising they spent the extra money on baskets when you could have 1 in the general vicinity and three tee pads.

Hole 5 is tucked on the edge of the property and the tee pad for hole 5 has you throwing in the opposite direction of the basket. There was one other out here that was like that as well but can't remember which hole it was. My conclusion is that the course was redesigned at some point but the tee signs/tee pads weren't changed over. I never found the tee pad for hole 5 but made up my own as this is the only basket that's not in a wide open field.

Overall I've seen worse and better. It's a course and if you like a more open style course with a few downhill holes this place is for you. I'm glad I ticked it off the list and it didn't take long to do so but I wouldn't come back just for this course.

Open course with long shots. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 23, 2017 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Great open course with long open shots. Great baskets and concrete tee pads.On a Sunday there is usually no one playing the course. Great place to practice your long shots. I would say that it is more intermediate course not so beginner friendly with the long shots.

Cons:

I would like to see more trees and shots you can hyzer and anhyzer or tunnel shots. More varied. Really wide open.

Other Thoughts:

I looks like they moved Tee pad for hole 1 to the left. I think the distance is the same. Hole 4 basket has been moved, so look before you throw I thought it was tucked in the trees. Just left of Basket 6. Hole 5 is also being changed. The tee pad has be moved but the basket is still in the original place. So you get a lot shorter shot.

Good course to practice your throwing arm.
I am would rate this 2.5 to 3.

Great play to warm up if you are going to Jolley's Ranch.

Long and Open Holes 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 15, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

Longer holes allows for distance drives.
A couple elevation changes.
The course is well maintained. The wild grasses near a few holes are mowed, which makes losing discs hard.
Holes 4 and 5 were my favorites: the basket placement for 4 is in a grove of trees, and hole 5 has good obstacles.
Concrete platforms, signposts, a map at the first hole, and chain baskets are in good condition.

Cons:

The trees are still mostly too small to make a difference when you throw. This makes most holes very open and therefore quite similar. In a few years they will be big enough to matter, which will improve he course.

Other Thoughts:

There's a map at the parking lot by hole 1.

Who Ever Heard Of A Rec Course Geared For Beginners With A 700 Foot Finishing Hole? 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 17, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

Eagle Rock Disc Golf Course sits in this valley in this housing development of nice homes. As I drove up thinking beginner course, I was imagining a 30 minute round. Looking down from the first tee (and trying not to get blown off by the fierce winds) I could only spot five baskets. It's quite a distance down to the first basket which is a Discatcher with the red # on top which I can't even begin to read from 400' away. Meanwhile the fierce ass winds blow my drive all over the place. Then I'm trying to figure out where # 2 is. Luckily, some other guys show up and point me in the right direction and point out where all those hidden baskets are located.

# 3 is 582'. This is no beginner course. Baskets are tucked into the brush here and there. The wind is howling. # 7 is the only hole playing under 300' and just barely at 291'. And the winds are lie, adding a 100' per hole. And then there is # 9 at 702' playing downhill from one end of the park to the other end.

Cons:

Please change the description on DGCR review to intermediate length course with moderate length and minimum challenge due to lack of trees, mostly open. This is no beginner course.

The wind really made playing this course an unpleasant experience. That's too bad because I think it would have been a fun and challenging course otherwise.

Signs with distances would be a big help as would any kind of a next tee indicator on the baskets.

Other Thoughts:

It's really a pretty little park. I doubt whether it ever gets any kind of play. So you would probably always have the course to yourself. There are some hills to "let er rip" on. Big arms will enjoy this course. Beginners will be frustrated beyond belief.

My final piece of advice. Pick a day to come here when the wind is not howling!

Big Open Field 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Oct 22, 2015 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

12/10/15 Update- Posts with signage and hole info now installed. Upping my review 1/2 star.
Concrete tee pads and baskets are in good shape. A couple altitude changes. Holes are long to practice big drives. Almost no chance of losing a disc. Benches for sitting. Nice mountain view.

Cons:

Obstacles on the course are almost nonexistent. No signage denoting hole/yardage as of Oct '15. All 9 holes are cramped into a relatively small area. Not a lot of variety. Course is at the bottom of a hill and grass has been quite marshy both times I've played.

Other Thoughts:

You are basically playing back and forth across the same field 9 times. That being said, there are a couple wrinkles that make it somewhat interesting. It is a good place to practice long drives at a target but not much else. Print out a course map the first time you go as there's no signs by the tee pads and there are multiple pins in sight for almost every shot. (baskets are numbered so that helps)
