Crazy Basket course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Dec 9, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

The Baskets are VERY visible. They are bright blue and green. The course is pretty easy to navigate and both tee pads are easy to find. Good variety of shots, the course doesn't have any really long holes but that's okay. Not much rough to get lost in, but there is rough to make it challenging. Many holes open a line for an ace run, but if you are off a little, you get punished. Which I think is good.

Cons:

The layout could be better, I was able to play fine because no one else was at the course. The course is laid out in a sort of spider web which would make it slightly hazardous if multiple people played on it. Also, the course's nearest parking lot is inaccessible, the next closest one is a 2 mile walk away, 2 miles is not bad but it is a pain. There is definately more space for a larger course, and I wish there was a larger course here. There is a lake like river inlet that the course partially plays around, but I would like to see a few more holes.

The best nine hole course in WA 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 2, 2017 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Easy to find and get to, located in a beautiful park with a swimming hole in the summer.
Great map at the kiosk.
Practice basket
Multiple tee pads. Green easier and blue harder.
signs on every other tee pad - hole one blue, 2 -green, 3 -blue and so on.
Signs let you know where the next tee is.
Play one color tee pads first 9 and then the other color for the next 9 to create 18.
Excellent use of space.
Multiple pin locations so the course changes every so often for locals.
Plenty of parking
Water Hazards make the course more of a challenge.
Unique use of mandos on course.
Great for families as well as challenging enough for pros.

Cons:

River rock bottom on most of the course makes it a little hard on your discs.
not enough trash cans, only one on hole 3 as of now.
Course gate gets closed late fall, winter and then opens in spring. Thus you have to walk or bike in about a mile.

Other Thoughts:

Course is continually progressing. Improvements made monthly. Wood chips are being laid by pins.

Pros:

Challenging with lots of hazards to play around. I like the idea of two different tees to play from. Played on 4/22/17 and new signage has been put in place. Really enjoyed playing this well maintained course.

Cons:

Only one complaint, and that is, if you are not a seasoned player. Be prepared to lose a disc on #5 water hazard. But that is what makes this course fun to play, so not really a Con.

Other Thoughts:

I'm a newbie so I haven't played a lot of courses yet. But I enjoyed this one and look forward to playing it again before winter sets in. There is no signage yet, but we figured out the layout as we played. Went from #3 to #6, and after realizing mistake, worked backwards to play #4 and #5. There is a map posted at the entrance, and I suggest taking a picture with your phone so you can carry the course with you as you play.

Has Potential 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 27, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

I can see the potential for this course in the future. The baskets are very nice, I can see the vision that the designer has for the tee boxes, I will be back to play this course next spring and hopefully everything will be in place by then.

Cons:

No signage yet. The Kiosk states that the signage will be in place soon. I can see where they have dug holes at some of the tee boxes and placed stumps in the holes for what I'm assuming will be where they mount the hole information. But for now, without the signage, I was only able to play 6 holes as I wasn't able to figure out where the other three tee boxes were or where the baskets were.

Other Thoughts:

I'm really looking forward to the day that this course is finished as I make a lot of trips from Olympia to Spokane and this will make a nice stop to break up the drive. The wind will help me to improve some of my shots and how to play in the wind.

New Central Washington Course Is Currently A Little Rough Around The Edges! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 5, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

The college town of Ellensburg finally has a disc golf course. Before, you had to drive twenty miles plus to either Yakima or Cle Elum to get your disc golf fix. The course is found at the far end of Irene Rinehart River Park.

The baskets are in and they are very pretty. I don't know what the make is because there is nothing on the basket that tells a manufacturer. But they are a lovely two tone (a pretty green on the top and a pretty blue shade on the catcher) and catch very well.

Oh yea, there is a nice little kiosk that has been recently built near the locked gate. There's currently no info on it but I'm sure it's forthcoming.

Other than this, I'm a little short of supualitives here. Park by the locked gate and then walk by the gate to a more open space. I think the course starts here. The tee pads are natural with stones as a border. There are one or two painted rocks at the front to help point you in the right direction.

I believe I played the first fives holes correctly. # 4 hole is a little challenging. It's about 260' and plays alongside of a river channel which is kinda murky looking. And the basket is protected by a bush and a large tree. I couldn't exactly find the # 6 tee pad area. I think # 8 is a fairly long (for this course) toss heading back towards the middle of the course. I'm not sure which basket was # 8. It could be the one on the left closest to the river or more than likely, it's the one tucked into the large woodpile straight ahead. Then, I'm fairly sure that # 9 plays about 325' straight ahead to the basket which sits near the river and close to the first tee pad.

Cons:

You're guessing at the navigation right now.

The tee pads are difficult to locate and really rough.

This river bottom land is never going to be inviting. It's rocky and will be hard on your plastic.

The course plays right beside I-90. I hope all that freeway noise doesn't affect your putting.

I worry about the isolated nature of this course. I hope the course designers are considering that when putting in signs. I'd make them industrial strength strong!

Other Thoughts:

I reserve the right to adjust my rating here when pads and signs are installed. It's still going to be an isolated recreation course on river bottom land but it will be the only game in town.

You might consider waiting to play this course when signage is installed.

Interesting dilemma here? When building a course, which do you install first? Signs? Tee pads? Kiosk? Personally, I might have gone for the signage first. But in the meantime, I would love to see someone, using tape, put the numbers on the inner basket rim. That wouldv'e helped me a lot.
