Beautifully maintained property

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 3, 2022 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

-The main thing everyone will notice is how well manicured this place is. It really does make it easy to play
-The facilities are also really good. Drinks and snacks (tasty sausage rolls) are available from the hut and so are toilets
-Big high quality teepads
-Some really memorable holes. Two back to back ace runs in the middle of the round are especially fun
-There is some great use of elevation and the trees available in places
-It is really fun and has the opportunity to throw a range of shot shapes

Cons:

-I think the layout lacks a sense of risk/reward. I never felt in danger of the OB greens, and felt that some holes lacked in artificial OB where it was needed. The par 4s especially all feel very soft
-It is massively open for most of the course. I think a certain level of distance circumvents most of the challenge

Other Thoughts:

I had really nice experiences playing through/letting other cards play through from disc, foot and traditional golf. They seem to have really nailed the coexistance of all three here.

Feels like Golf - and that's a good thing 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 25, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

The layout makes fantastic use of the property. Good baskets, good teepads and it felt like a "destination" course.

Some really memorable holes, wide open, well cut fairways which makes a nice change from the usual UK courses, and there's very little in the way of public on the property which makes the course feel private and exclusive.

Cons:

Pretty expensive (£12) and only open at limited times as the land is shared with a golf club

Other Thoughts:

Well worth a round. Can't wait to play it again!

Pros:

The site of an old Golf Course there is still a team of four groundsmen looking after the venue and it shows. The fairways are cut to golf standards and the whole property is incredibly well looked after.

Holes are fun and fair. Some long bomber par 3's mixed with technical shorter holes and great use of elevation makes for an incredibly enjoyable round.

Little chance of losing discs even in the height of growing season.

Pay to play - a pro for me when the standard of course is like this. Becoming a DGUK member gets free access to the course as well.

The course was designed to be White Level and sits jsut about perfectly there.

There is the oppurtunity for Blue level tees on nearly all of the holes in future.

There is a short beginner friendly layout which is also great fun for your ace runs and short skills.

Cons:

Potentially a bit easy to score on, like many golf course layouts it can be quite forgiving to errant shots.

Not open for Disc Golf all the time, check ahead with the website and book in advance to avoid disappointment.

Other Thoughts:

It's a stunning piece of property and Dan has done a superb job on his first full permanent 18 hole course layout at Fairways.

This is part of the DGUK membership course scheme and is a standard we'll look to achieve elsewhere.

Rounds cost £12 to play to non members which is certainly at the higher end of Disc Golf pricing but the second you arrive you will understand why it costs what it does. Tees are great, fairways, greens and baskets are all top quality and it is a very fun round of golf, currently rating at 4.8 on Udisc from the first 40 or so reviews this is immediately a must play course in the area.
