Good for them to have a local locale

Pros:

There's a three-year-old course on Oddville Road behind the farmer's market pavilion (with year-round restrooms and plenty of parking when there's no market day) that begins near a nice course map kiosk, loops up the big hill and beside the flagpole up in the breezes there, comes back down toward the creek, and finishes with a couple of holes that actually incorporate some good trees and shrubs to generate the need for controlled lines of flight. Tee signs are basic, and baskets are sturdy DGA galvanized metal, and catch well. Hole distances seem appropriate for recreational to intermediate arms, and represent a nice disc golf workout in a small Kentucky town that otherwise doesn't have nearby access to the sport.

Cons:

However, there are no true designated spots for tees: you throw from the grass (or path, or gravel) near the marked tee signs, fairways up on the hill are simply mown low about 20' wide, with longer rough (not sure how long they let it grow in season: I was there in December) just off the intended line. Baskets are all set about 1' lower than 'standard'. The first seven holes really have almost no true obstacles to make you choose a flight path, but they were able to break my cardinal safety rules several times: hole 1 throws at a bench and across two paths, hole 2 across a path blind, hole 4 throws blind over the hilltop to a basket tucked just a few feet beyond a bench facing away from the tee, and just past another blind path, hole 5's basket is 350' downhill (not 167! …and the tee sign is faded white) with a blind path just past the green, hole 7 throws over the parking lot for the majority of rhbh hyzer throwers, hole 8 throws across a creek (ok), then a path 'blinded' by foliage on the approach (not ok), and hole 9 throws across two paths (though it might be the best 'true disc golf' hole out here). And finally, to access the final two holes, they had to leave you hanging with a traipse back through those fairways to the parking lot.

Other Thoughts:

The park is overall a scenic and expansive space, and it's nice that it includes disc golf. When there's no one else in the park, I think holes 6 (a downhill ace run with the creek long and left), and 9 (about 280' with four or five appropriately scaled and located trees and shrubs to consider) may be my favorite throws. I just worry that they have too many 'blind' and potentially hazardous situations otherwise, and if it were in my hometown, I'd be giving a lot of thought to a safer redesign.
