Coming in Fast: Orange Crush(ed Baskets) 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 28, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Reasonable beginner-level design with a mostly open, mostly flat front nine (albeit with a few tasty bits of elevation thrown in on #'s 1,2, 3 & 9); as well as a reasonably easy wooded back nine. Located on a nice little community college campus. Course is immediately to the right once you get to the parking lots, look for the sign.
- Point and shoot, not much to these holes (4-8 are all pretty bland and throw-away-ish). Open, grassy, nothing in the way. All mid-length.
- Back nine likewise is hyzery/straight for almost all shots. Off the fairway is thick woods, dense with poison ivy, as the signs warn of repeatedly throughout the course. You know it's bad when they hang signs.
- Natural tees were fine. Rinky dink baskets, gave a sort of temporary feel, despite being sunk. Front nine are all green; the back nine baskets are orange. All baskets seemed not plumb, or wobbly-basket-ed. Signage was sufficient, but a few signs randomly point the opposite direction. Take a phone pic of the Course Map, it does help in spots.

Cons:

- Unfortunately this course literally got crushed on the back nine by some insanely major tree damage. I've never been in such thick chit, good god. The course has been restored as much as possible; you can tell they're working on it from the chain saw cuts, and some semblance of paths being cleared, but right now the entirely of #11 is gone....just gone. Trees. After clambering through some insane chit, I managed to locate #12. But #14's orange basket was crushed by a fallen tree (since removed and cut up)...all that's there now is a pin. #17's sign is uprooted and plunked in a random spot, I just made up what looked like the tee spot, a bit away. Tree piles everywhere. Right now, don't even bother with a cart. Unless you're really fit, got spine, and willing to climb through fallen tree carnage, I'd wait until more work can be done.

Other Thoughts:

- All-in-all not terrible. A decent enough course without anything too tough or exciting. It's disc, and that's good. I appreciate the fact people are working hard to get the fallen trees cleared, it's an amazing amount of damage.
