Fun short course drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 13, 2023 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

So grateful to have another course in the north end! Very short, but some tight gaps, great for beginners and ace hunters. Excellent design for a small and beautiful piece of property.

Cons:

Gravel tees aren't great, but I hear turf is in the works. Use udisc to navigate, no tee signs yet. Unfortunately, the park is known for hard drug use, but I'm sure the influx of disc golfers and support from the city will help clean up the park.

Fun beginner/exploration course

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 12, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

I rate all courses using the same metric so my 2.5 rating is quite favorable relative to other courses of similar distance and difficulty.

First, the holes on this course are short BUT also reasonably challenging and PERFECT for beginner disc golfers who are learning new skills. Each hole has one or two lines that are required off of the tee, thus requiring the player to shape their shot (rather than simply throw what they are already comfortable with).

Although an expert disc golfer should be expecting to shoot at least -6, this does not mean that it lacks challenge. Accurate shots are required on each hole.

Finally the forest here is just pretty with a small creek - a nice little oasis from the surrounding urban/suburban landscapes.

Cons:

Although the course has mainly gravel tees, I don't think this will be especially problematic for a course of this length. Some care will be needed in order to keep tee areas visible and to protect against erosion. In the future, a more permanent solution for tee areas may be necessary.

There are quite a few holly bushes. This is to be expected for a new course in the PNW and shouldn't be a problem as folks start to care for and improve their new disc golf home. Hey you! Maybe you are one of those caretakers :)

I expect the course will be quite muddy in the winter (however I do not have first-hand experience of this yet).

Other Thoughts:

Overall I really enjoyed this course and think it is a great design for a small park space. Beginners will find new challenges here and a chance to learn new skills. Experts and the 'well-seasoned' will still appreciate that accuracy is needed to score.
