fun! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 23, 2017 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

awesome little practice course! you can throw bombs anywhere, but here, the longest hole is 171 ft.
good place to pad your ace stats if you play it often enough.
good design for the land it was allowed.
great map at the first hole and good signage from there on out.
can fly through it, very quick rounds at the taking.
VERY FUN!!!
excellent for family play and beginner play.
its fun to be 6-7 under par for a change!
gorgeous views, mature trees.

Cons:

a slight trash problem, and i dont know if its homeless people, or people going up there to get it on, but blankets in the bushes and around the tunnel between the water towers kind of leave you with an "eeew" feeling.

Other Thoughts:

sure, i could be a disc golf snob and do all of the "what if's" but why!?! its a sweet little course to go practice. this course will improve your short game which is where you do all your scoring. for a town that has absolutely nothing in the really good to great range when it comes to courses, they did a great job with this little guy.
ok, if the city would allow, this park could be an incredible and i mean INCREDIBLE 18 hole full length course!!!

Grandview Park 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 26, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

Has rubber tee pads

More open than wooded fairways - beginner friendly

Short course that is great for a beginner or for one to work on the short game

Well-maintained

Free parking

Restrooms

Cons:

Has no tee signs

Safety issues - course has a few holes that play near the walking path

Course design and flow could use improvement as there are fairly long walks between holes 1&2 and 7&8 and an awkward transition between holes 2&3

Needs next tee signs at some baskets - consult the course map

No variety in pars - par 27

Other Thoughts:

This a short, fun 9 hole city park course in Sioux City that I enjoyed playing on a windy Monday afternoon. If was nice to see that the course had a map near the hole #1 tee pad of the layout and distances since there were no tee signs. The rubber tee pads are short but long enough given the short distances of each hole. The course is so short in that I have played a few par 5 holes on other courses that are longer than this entire course. This course is really basic with about 4 holes uphill, 3 downhill, and 2 that are flat and would be great to play for the beginning player or for one to work on the short game. Many opportunities to have ace runs and easy birdies here. This course plays clockwise around the twin tanks that ends near the parking lot. Some of the holes play fairly close to the walking path so that potentially can cause some concern in safety and delays depending on how busy the park is. A couple of holes had some fairly long walks in between and an awkward transition to hole #3 looking like a filler hole. Other than that, it's a reasonable course to play. If you're in this area, this course might be worth bagging as it's a quickie.

Need an Ace? 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 10, 2016 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

- 9 potential Ace opportunities
- Nice scenery with art on towers and bandshell
- Perfect beginner's course
- New DISCatcher baskets
- Bowl Hole is after Hole #2 through the tunnel

Cons:

- Not much for competition
- Only takes 25 mins to play even with group
- No signs with hole description
- Short rubber tees

Other Thoughts:

This course has a great view of the city of Sioux City since your on top of the hill and one of the higher places in the city. Along with the view is a nice scenery of two towers that the course goes around with artistic drawings and graffiti that is not offensive at all and ends with a view of the bandshell on the final two holes to wrap-up a round of frisbee golf. This is one of the better scenery courses I have been on since there is more too see then just a park.

However, if your looking for an competitive course to play with friends this course is not that because unless you get an Ace both players will usually tie the hole since there is not many places to mess up. This is more of a warm-up or beginner's/introduction course for new frolfers. But that doesn't mean its not fun or challenging for seasoned players. On a few holes there are trees to make it a little difficult but still attainable in getting those aces and there is a slight elevation but with the longest hole being 175' it really doesn't effect a player too much.

Fun little pitch and putt 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 24, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

- New baskets
- Very interesting terrain
- Manicured park

Cons:

- Super short
- Tees not marked well
- Navigation difficult

Other Thoughts:

This course plays around the highest point in the city, which is dominated by two large water storage tanks at the top of the hill. Tees are small rubber mats staked into the ground.

Basically, this is a pitch and putt course, but the terrain is varied enough that it makes for some interesting shots, although some are kind of repetitive. Three holes are somewhat level, but the rest are either severely uphill or severely downhill. The baskets are sited near obstacles such that you need to finesse your shot close without getting behind a bush or inside an evergreen tree.

The water tanks are incorporated into the course and have some interesting (Rated G) graffiti painted on them. It's a curious contrast of manicured green park land and a concrete 'urban' setting.

In summary, all you need is your putter. It's a quirky little course in which to bolster your ace numbers.
