One of the longer, hillier park courses that I've played

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 8, 2024 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

+9 Innova baskets in good shape. Yellow is a bit faded as they are the same ones that were on this course in its previous layout.
+Excellent use of the elevation in this very hilly park. Every shot includes some elevation and some are quite extreme. Many greens are quite fast and challenging due to these slopes.
+A solid amount of big, mature trees. They aren't overly challenging but can penalize bad shots and force some lines.
+Won't lose a disc here.
+A challenging course to score well but beginners can still have fun.
+Park is very well maintained. There is an historic bandshell, rose garden, playground, bathrooms, walking paths, benches, etc.

Cons:

-The city put the signs up from the old layout on this course. This is an entirely new layout. Zero holes/distances, etc in common from the old course. The old course was very short and this one is very long. They have been up for about 6 months now so I'm not sure what the plan is.
-Rubber mats for tees that are already going missing. Hopefully there are plans for concrete.
-A few safety/layout issues. Hole 2 throws over a road that goes through the park. It doesn't see a ton of traffic but needs to be noted. There are sidewalks near 6-9. Easy to pedestrians with good sight lines but still a hazard.

Other Thoughts:

+This is a new layout that replaces the old one in this same park. There was water tower construction that eliminated the old course. This one is a big improvement.
+Fun factor and challenge are solid here. It's a nice 9 for a city park.
+This course has been in for about 6 months and hasn't seen further improvement. It feels incomplete. Signs and tees need updating. Hopefully that is coming soon. Will update review if it happens. This course is better than a 2 but is held back by these factors.
+The sign with hole 9 is actually hole 1. The rest of the holes have signs that correspond to the actual hole until hole 9 which doesn't have one.
+I live very close to this course. Hit me up if you plan to come to Sioux City to play.
