I Can't Believe I Donated $2 For This Abuse! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 5, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

The Granite Gorge Ski Area DGC is just 8/10 of a mile from the Otter Brook DGC but as far as your disc golfing experiences, they are galaxies apart. In fact, I can frankly state that my discing experience here at Granite Gorge was perhaps the most unpleasant of any of the 748 courses that I've played. Why you ask? Let me count the ways.

The layout here at Granite Gorge is without a doubt, the worst ever. You start near the small shed where you put your donation in a large pipe (Be generous, Ladies and Gentlemen, course improvements depend on your generosity!). Then you play long grueling holes away from the ski area base. When you have finished? Yes! Turn around and backtrack the entire way. But wait boys and girls, it gets better!

# 1 played down a road except for one small problem? What's that you ask? A large piece of machinery was blocking the fairway. I think this piece of machinery is called an excavator. It has treads like a tank and a shovel type thing on the front.

# 2 was my favorite hole. The sign for it says (2). I will assume you are to tee off from the sign as there are no actual pads. I looked down the narrow road heading down to wherever the basket was and thought to myself, "No F****ing way am I throwing down that narrow ass road. So I starting walking looking for the # 2 basket. I found it about a 1000 feet down the narrow road with inpenetratable underbrush lurking on both sides. I'd conservately rate this hole as a Par 12. And the Plus or Minus on losing discs is a negative 2. That means the average Joe Disc Golfer would be expected to lose two discs on this hole alone.

Oh, by the way, Did I mention that the previous mentioned excavator had recently been carving out this wonderful new roadway and walking on it could only be compared to trudging through the Alaskan perma frost just after the spring thaw.

Cons:

The biggest con is having to trudge back after wasting your time playing these 9 holes.

Other Thoughts:

The course did have this pretty red Gateway Portable basket on # 1 with TRIPLE chains. Those Gateway people certainly know how to build a better portable basket! The rest of the baskets were just regular temporary ones. The tee signs just had a number. I didn't know exactly where the tee pads where. They must have been natural. Maybe the excavator ran over them!
