I gave this course a two simply because it's unique and a lot of work went into it. My thanks to the folks who put this course together and their willingness to share it with the public but it was not our cup of tea.
This course is a work in progress so time will tell what it will be in the future. The place has potential but it will take a lot of work.

You will need every shot you have up your sleeve and even some you've never tried before. If you can thrive on this course, you would have bragging rights for sure.
The fairways are tight and mistakes will cost you.

I might consider playing this course in the late fall or even winter when the brush and grass are down more. A light coating of snow might make finding your disc easier.

These are the kind of courses that I am drawn to for course bagging purposes; quiet, great views, unique and extremely fun! Tee signs are built out of strips of trees and have been salvaged from the fire pit as to my best guess but do an excellent job of giving all required info including elevation gain/loss and total distance although some of the distances seem slightly off, oh well it gives you a ballpark so who cares.

Baskets: The course has excellent homemade baskets with some being on the ground and others hanging. This is where I usually differ with most players in that I like these baskets a lot because they make putting harder, you can't just throw a 200mph fastball in there and expect it to catch which in turn makes where you land so much more important and that challenges accuracy even more. Also they are unique to this course and after 220+ courses played I look for things like this that I haven't played on before. I have played similar baskets just not exact.

Rough: The rough is nasty here and I love it, it punishes bad shots quite effectively. Most players will disagree with me on this and I understand I'm in the minority. Some of the problem with our game is that making three is too easy so we need to find ways to punish bad shots and reward good shots. I would make the rough OB to reward good throws even more.

Elevation: Lots more ups and down that I had previously accounted for before hand and I'm glad there was a lot more. The designer has made excellent use of it and with more than half of the course in play. There is one stretch from four until seven if I remember correctly that just goes straight up hill for a while before it levels out. These are some of the toughest holes on the course if you can't get enough power on your drives.

*SPOILER ALERT*

Stonehenge: I almost hate to give away this secret as it was a fun surprise for me but there is a hole with these pipes set up vertically with a basket in the middle of them and a metal headboard frame. There are two circles within this basket; an outer circle which is OB and an inner that really only missed putts will go into and this is in bounds. You have to lay up (if you're smart) in the grass just before the outer circle to attempt a 30-50 footer. I love the punishment on this hole! Funny thing is you see this hole through most of the course and you keep thinking that's going to be the next hole and deep in the back nine you start to wonder if you are even going to play it. Don't worry it's the last hole, number 18 and it is a fun signature hole.

Mostly open fairways: Some of the fairways are mowed down with high grass (rough) on each side but almost no obstacle impeding you so you are free to throw how you like and even though the shape of the fairways vary greatly there is almost always a way of throwing whatever your favorite shot is be it a hyzer or something else. One of the ways to end that is to make the long grass OB which would also challenge accuracy even further which is so important for a course that is shorter in length. I also think a double mando on hole 15 from the left, bushy tree to the far tree would keep people in that tight, low ceiling (because of elevation) fairway and avoid 'cheating' by throwing over the top of the tree which is so easy to do.

Tee pads: They are dirt or wood chips and aren't dug out at all but not all of them are level which is fine with me because it makes the course play longer sometimes. I don't believe concrete pads are right for this course but if they were leveled and you didn't want them to get rutted out the best thing to do would be to get some carpet (which you can usually get for free BTW) and nail it down on top of them. This would keep the tee pads temporary and avoid a lot of work with concrete and keep the feel of this course.

This is a great little course with an excellent design with tons of signature holes and a very high fun factor with the right mind set. If you go in whining about the baskets and tee pads you're not going to have fun but please take this course for what it's worth and enjoy the great things about it. Make sure and check out the snack station (when it's open) and don't forget to put your donation in the box BEFORE you play. Oh yeah and don't let the house cat follow you around the course, she's a sweet cat but after I gave her some attention she wouldn't leave my side even in the tee box.

If you've played Dave Heider's private course in Amity, you'll see many similarities between the two courses. Both utilize the same fun, creative, challenging use of a great piece of property. Both have a certain overall quirkiness. Both play through out-buildings, yards, farm equipment, etc. At both expect spit outs from homemade baskets.
The owner here has dreams of making this a destination type disc golf course, concert venue, picnic gathering spot...maybe something along the lines of a Horning's Hideout. He currently has a small snack shed selling beverages for reasonable prices. He asks for a $3 donation to play.

The course is very rustic as in very basic homemade baskets. Expect spit outs, fall outs through the bottoms, etc. There a special course rule covering this however.

The tee pads are mostly natural with a 2" x 4" border. The pads are not great but will suffice for now. There is some great elevation in play and so you are often throwing uphill (4-5 holes) or downhill (4-6 holes). Although not real long, a couple of the uphill throws will reward those with stronger arms. There is a nice variety of technical, downhill touch ACE runs, quirky Private Course type holes and open longer holes. Most players will find more than enough challenge here.

The homemade tee signs featured not only the hole #, the distance, a route to the basket, a cute hole name but also the elevation loss/gain which was interesting and helpful.

The homemade baskets are really shaky. They're kind of all over the place as far as design, size, catching ability.

Actually my favorite hole, # 14, a downhill 281' with a 73' elevation drop, features a hanging basket.

The pads are not always level and aren't always quite long enough for the run-up needed on some of the uphill throws.

The course, being private could always use some more cutting/trimming/ mowing. I think that job is never ending. The fairways were fairly short but the grass was taller just off to the sides.

The challenge/enjoyment factor is definitely here for most players. You just have to accept the homemade baskets and sub-standard tee pads as part of the package. I joined up with three young men, one of whom probably threw 400' and he immensely enjoyed the course and didn't let the baskets get in his head one bit. If you bring that attitude here to Grizzly Acres, you'll enjoy the hell out of your round here.

Now for the previous reviewer who gave this course a 4.5, I might remind you that a 4.5 is a higher rating than Pier Park, Dexter, Blue Lake or probably Milo McIver currently have.

Awesome use of space! Great variety of holes. Technical course with up, down, left, and right fairways. Very unique!

Needs concrete pads. Wood chip pads are solid, but tough to get distance from.

Perfect for the player trying to improve the versatility of your game. Puts your skills to the test, for sure!
