Hartwood Park Disc Golf Course Seems To Be Undergoing A Redesign! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 21, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

PARK DESCRIPTION - Hartwood Park is a mid-sized grassy city park with scattered trees which slopes down to a ravine. The park has an unique playground at top.

VARIETY - I think there might be even be a nice variety of holes here. But because I screwed up the navigation so badly, I can't say with any certainty. There are tee pads that appear ready for the concrete to be poured. Some of these have the hole information written on the form in sharpie. There were also tiny ribbons that appear to identify as tee pads as well as some traffic cones passing as tee markers. It was all quite confusing.

ELEVATION - Some rolling hills and then a fun, steep little downhill 175' Ace run through the trees on what I presume is going to be # 6.

CHALLENGE - I think it will end up being a nice recreational park course with some elevation thrown in.

EQUIPMENT - The baskets are silver, no name models with the thin band on top. A number on them would be most helpful. Forms are built for the tee pads. They look ready to have the concrete poured. There are no signs but there are these stupid little laminated code of disc golf ethics which are laminated and easily mistaken for actual tee signs.

AESTHETICS - it's a nice city park with a big water tower in the center. There is a deep, gorge at the lower end and lots of thick brush on both sides.

FUN FACTOR - it was difficult for me to determine the fun factor as I so badly screwed up the navigation. # 6 would definitely be the signature hole for me but I do love those little feathery touch Ace runs.

ROUTING/NAVIGATION - Pretty iffy at present. I will keep an eye on this course and watch to see if concrete pads are coming as well as some helpful signage.

Cons:

There was a weird individual lurking about acting like a mother bird protecting her nest. It made me a little nervous leaving my wife to read her book on one of the benches.

Tee boxes look as though they might be getting ready to pour concrete OR are they content to just have the forms filled with gravel?

Currently confusing with tee pads, ribbons and cones all representing tee pads.

Some nasty rough to avoid, especially the gorge at the bottom of the park.

Other Thoughts:

With concrete and some rudimentary signs, this would make for a nice little average park DGC. I'm leaving my rating intentionally low with the option to increase it when and if concrete and signs are added.

There's enough length, challenging holes and the cool little steep downhill throw to make this course as an attractive option on your drive through the Colombia Gorge scenic byway.
