Description
Features dramatic elevation changes and wooded fairways. Course is very hard to follow and find next tees. Study the map prior to playing this course. ATTENTION: This course is at its best in DRY CONDITIONS BETWEEN FIRST AND LAST FROSTS. If conditions are dry, expect sweet Hummel play in October and November, and again in March and April. These times prohibit extreme insects and foliage. DIRECTIONAL AID (as of August '23) Most are easy to find either by the well-worn path or by the red arrows nailed to the trees, keep a good eye out because those arrows are usually 10 to 15 feet off the ground, but they are usually helpful. The toughest transitions are thus: -From hole 1, across the clearing from the parking lot is a blue square sign, the path to hole 2 is past it through the trees. You will see the basket of 16 and likely the tee of 17, don't take off left or right, just keep going straight up some steps. When you reach the road, cross and head to the right (uphill). Hole 2's tee will be there. -From hole 2, there is a red arrow nailed to a tree about 10ft off the ground 3/4 of the way down the hill, it points you to a small path that winds up to hole 3's tee. -From hole 3 (this is the big one), from the green, cross Hummel Rd, then head right to John J Pershing Dr, do not cross Pershing Dr. Follow the gravel on the near side of Pershing Dr to the second brown square trail sign labeled Fur Trader Road (I've added a pic of this sign in the photos). Follow that dirt path. The tee of 4 is probably 750ft down the path on the left, there was not a tee sign when I played. -From hole 4, cross the creek either the old-fashioned way, or keep going down the path and cross the bridge on the right. Follow that until you see another small red arrow nailed to a tree, this points to hole 5's tee. -From hole 8, follow the path to the left through a small tree tunnel, you will see a basket up the hill to the right, turn left and the tee is there, but it is dirt. This is the first dirt tee you'll encounter, and they continue until hole 13. -From Hole 10, take the uphill path to the left of the basket. 11 to 12 is also uphill. -From hole 13, cross the road and the creek to hole 14, and from hole 15, cross the road again and look for a well-worn path that leads uphill to 16's tee (also dirt).
