Decent Park Course drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 4, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

- 2 sets of tee pads for each hole
- Short tee pads are great distance for beginners & ace runs
- Long tee pads give a challenge
- Navigation is simple to follow

Cons:

- The rough gets tall in the middle of the course and is full of poison ivy/stinging nettle.
- Not a whole lot of variety. Pretty straightforward.
- some of the long pads have some ridiculous lines to throw.

Other Thoughts:

Overall a nice little course to play if you are new to the game, up visiting and don't have your full bag, or if you want some warmup before playing Wild Berry or Sugar Creek.

I lost my car key 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 28, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

The layout was easy to follow for a couple of beginners.

Cons:

I lost my car key! It's a single black key fob with a silver button you push and the key flips out.

Other Thoughts:

If anyone finds a Toyota key, please contact me.

Fun, Quick around in Door County

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 13, 2023 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

- great tee signs
- though natural tees, outlined and marked will with rocks
- 2 tees for every hole which offer different approaches
- some wooded areas which increase challenge
- 6 and 7 have a bit of elevation change to add interest
- scorecards and course map available at beginning
- straightforward navigation
- good for beginners with several ace opportunities on short tees
- long tees add some challenge for more experienced players

Cons:

- plays through multi use park so baseball etc. May cause minor interference
- short tees in 5, 6, 7 are really short
- minimal elevation change
- natural tees
- if course were busy there could be some major congestion in the areas of holes 5, 6

Other Thoughts:

UPDATE 8/23:

Still enjoy this short little course. The long tees make it more of a "real" length course, but the ace runs on the shorts are tons of fun. This course tends to be deserted early in the morning (maybe always) so I often throw 2 discs or throw both tees to record 18 holes on each pass. You can easily throw 2 discs and still make it through in 30 minutes or a bit more, and 20 minutes if you're just throwing one. It's lighthearted, fun disc golf with some mild woods and elevation change.

Biggest con I see here since last visit is some of the natural tee pads are getting pretty rutted out. Some concrete tee pads here would be a huge upgrade. Leave a few dollars in the donation box if you can!

Some small tables next to the tee signs have been added, presumably to set bags on. It's a nice touch, but they're a bit too high for those of us below 7' in height.

__________

I really enjoyed this little course! Some of the red tees were a bit too short in my opinion but overall it was a fun round. This course is very well maintained for a more rural area with printed scorecards available and great tee signs with course maps at every tee.

I think this course has potential to be even better if it expanded into the woods near holes 5 and 6 more. This could add additional challenge and intrigue. Overall this was a pretty easy course but the quality of the maintenance and the ease of navigation made it very pleasant. There also isn't much risk of losing discs.

The tees are natural, but are outlined on the sides with rocks and clearly labeled. While not as nice as concrete, effort was clearly put in with what was available to make the course playable. Most holes and the course in general had sponsors that helped make this possible. It was nice to see the community involvement. There is a donation box near the start of the course and the map; I'd encourage putting something in if you'd like to see this course stay so nice. If you are visiting Door County this is the course I would go to unless you're driving pretty far south to the Sturgeon Bay area.

Fun little course! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 20, 2020 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Nine baskets with two tee off options at each one.

Many of the shorter tee pads are easily ace-able (some are 100 feet exacly).

Good use of their limited space available.

Second tee off option makes birdies for advanced players a challenge.

Front tee pads are great for beginners.

Cons:

If the course is crowded there is a lot of overlap from hole to hole.

Some super tall weeds along the course. Definitely need a spotter to help you if you play the long tee pads.

Other Thoughts:

They even have a sign in book and scorecards you can take and use!

This is a great course for beginners. The back nine have some challenging holes for advanced players BUT you might spend some time looking for your discs on holes 3&4 if you go alone and use the farther tee pads.

Good for a quick 9 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 4, 2019 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Good variety considering this is part of a park with a baseball diamond in the middle. Some of the holes are pretty creative with the minimal elevation change and tight space. Two tees per hole make it easier for new players to handle and allows longer and/or more accurate arms show what they've got.

Cons:

Some of the baskets/tees are really close together. While not a problem if the course is empty you could easily throw into someone if there are more than a couple groups on the course.

Good, for what and where it is 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 26, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

I really like the work which has been put into this course, the tee boxes are well and creatively marked. Makes the best possible use of the available space and obstacles. Requires some shot shaping and accuracy.

Cons:

It's crammed into a small space and while the course is pretty well maintained the park it's in is kind of sad.

Nice Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 25, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Short and long tees
Wooded and open holes
Nice baskets
Challenging

Cons:

Some poison ivy on hole 3

Other Thoughts:

It's great to see another course in door county. We used to have to drive over a half hour to get to a course. This course is good but not up to par with some of the nicer courses. Still fun and challenging and happy to see another course on the Door Peninsula.

Welcome to Jacksonport 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 3, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Fairly tranquil setting, nestled behind the fire station and baseball diamond.

Two tees per hole with very different lengths.

Temporary tee signs are painted on large rocks, indicate hole number and distance.

Baskets are not damaged and are installed properly.

I believe there was a practice basket near first hole.

The course is fairly spread out, so you don't feel too cramped up, besides the baseball diamond (more on that below).

Navigation is pretty straight forward, just look for a painted rock near where you just finished.

Painted rocks indicating which way to go when long and short tees are spread far apart.

Some holes had a bit of an open feel to them, while others were moderately wooded.

A very unique hole were (#3 from the long tees) you play a giant U-turn around thick trees.

Trash cans and sit-able rocks are dotted here and there along the course.

Jacksonport is a tiny town on the "quiet side", so I doubt this course will ever be too crowded.

Amenities near parking lot include trash cans, picnic tables, port-a-potty, and small pavilion.

Guestbook and scorecards available at welcoming table/area. It includes a temporary sign indicating that soon a permanent sign will be placed with a course map and a sign to recognize all the generous course sponsors. A donation box will also be added soon, and there is a contact if anyone would like to donate.

The course is sponsored by local establishments. One of those establishments is Mike's Port Pub and Grill just a couple minute walk from the last hole.

Cons:

On two (three if you overshot quite a bit), you are playing pretty close to the fence for the baseball diamond.

The total footage of the course listed at the information table/area seemed incorrect.

The reds played obnoxiously short, but this is probably designed to get the locals (who aren't familiar with disc golf for the most-part as there were practically no courses in Door County until recently) and kids into the sport.

Natural tees, but that doesn't bother me much when the courses isn't overly played and ruts get formed.

Other Thoughts:

This is a brand new course, the first of any in Door County North of the Sturgeon Bay bridge. I think this course has excellent potential and a lot of community support, that I would expect improvements to made in a streamlined fashion.

I didn't notice any water in play.

If you're looking for ace runs play the reds, if you're looking for a more "regular" course for someone who has played a couple dozen or hundred courses, play the blues; heck play em both and head to Mike's.
