Tee pads are short and its hard to throw powerful.

Well Designed for the Space Available 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 25, 2017 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

A nice variety of shots, making creative use of the limited space available.

Brand new Discatcher baskets, with arrow tags on the baskets pointing to the next tee.

Wind, elevation changes, and tricky basket placements add a level of challenge making this slightly harder than the "beginner" or "learning" level one might expect from a school-based course.

Cons:

Though the course info states a course map is available at the pavilion between holes 1 and 2, I didn't see one. This is a new course though, so maybe it's coming.

No posts/tee signs at the tees. This makes finding the next tee a challenge sometimes, though the tags mentioned above help a bit.

Tee pads are a bit on the small side.

Lots of downed trees/rough terrain on the first few holes, making it surprisingly easy to lose a disc. Again, though, it's a new course and maybe this will be cleaned up soon.

Several holes play along residential fence lines, so don't throw into someone's yard!

Not open to play during school hours.

Other Thoughts:

I admit I wasn't expecting much from a high school course, but I was pleasantly surprised by the challenge offered by the Keaton Colye Memorial DGC.

Plays around the grounds of Prairie Grove High School, and makes good use of the space available. Good variety of forehand/backhand shots, and pin placements on steep hillsides make it a challenge to park a hole without leaving yourself a "death putt."

Several wide-open holes bring the often-gusting NW Arkansas wind into play, which can be punishing.

I wouldn't call this a "destination" course that you'd go out of your way to visit, but if you're in the area for another reason (as I was for Family Thanksgiving), it's definitely worth taking the time for a fun round or two.

NOTE: From the pin at #5, you have to walk backward toward the previous few holes to find the tee for #6. Hopefully this info will save someone a little of the time I lost walking around the football practice field. :)
