Poorly-planned add-on 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 27, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

The course has defined tee-box locations and the campground will lend you a set of discs to play a round.

Cons:

The tones they use are hard to see at times. They are wooden poles that are covered with a heavy-duty tin-foil, it seems. They are poorly maintained and occasionally play close to public areas like camp kitchens and horseshoe pits.

The course is also unmaintained. The lines that a disc golfer is required to hit have been grown over and 8 of the 12 holes require a spotter. A few tee boxes have juvenile trees right in front of the tee box which wasn't the original design. The course was planned hastily as some holes play to the same area where other disc golfers may be driving (hole 4 drives right above 10 target).

The tee locations are also poorly-marked and don't specify which hole you are currently on. The course map that is provided at the campground office is mandatory in order to navigate your way correctly.

In my opinion, holes 11 and 12 seem unnecessary and the course could easily be trimmed to a 9-hole setup.

Other Thoughts:

The entire course just seems like a complete afterthought and it was quickly thrown together. The course directs players to throw into heavily-used areas which is dangerous, and the course is completely impossible to navigate without a map or course guide. The targets are hard to see from almost every tee and are low-quality tones.

I don't recommend going out of your way to play this course. Spend the extra half-hour on the road and go play Cranbrook's 18 holes. Kimberley just made me upset to play it.
