Lake Meriwether Park 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 1, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Has practice basket

Has tee signs for most holes

More wooded than open fairways with doglegs and slight elevations - which will be challenging to the casual player

Most DISCatchers have a spoke that's painted to indicate the direction of the next tee

Free parking

Restrooms

Camping

Cons:

Has natural tee pads for some holes indicated by stake flags; other holes have turf mats that are small and unsuitable for a run-up and to drive off of

Needs more next tee signs - recommend a course map for the first-timer

Watch out for small, exposed tree stumps as they're easy to trip on especially for the back nine

Some holes have rough areas and need more maintenance

Some holes have fairly long walks in between such as holes 8&9, 9&10, and 17&18 - not really a con in my book but some may not like the additional walking

Few opportunities to lose discs here via lake on hole 7 and spillway on hole 9 - recommend backup discs

Long walk back to the parking lot after finishing the last hole

Other Thoughts:

This is a challenging 18 hole course outside of Woodbury that I enjoyed playing on a Saturday afternoon. It was quite challenging to navigate this course without a map but I was able to navigate it by looking at the direction the baskets' spokes were pointing and also the flagging tape posted throughout the course. I located a course map online and then posted it to this site after playing the course. Looking at the course map, hole #18 tee is further down the road from hole #17 basket than what's shown. I saw flagging tape from the road to point me to hole #18 tee. This park is in a remote area so cell phone reception may be spotty or nonexistent here as mine was. Being that the course is in a remote area, it appears that the course doesn't get enough playtime to get broken in. I noticed that the undergrowth on the back nine are trying to reclaim the fairways. The front nine seems to be much better maintained in that the grass was mowed recently. I like the course layout as there are some interesting holes with some interesting lines as well. It seems like the course is not complete as of the date of my review. I would rate this course higher if the tee pads have solid footing like concrete or turf, updated tee signs showing distance and par, next tee signs, and more labor to clear out some of the rough undergrowth for many holes. This is not a destination course but might be worth the stop if you're in the area. I made a day trip with Flat Rock Park and this course to make it my worthwhile.

Not great, not the worst 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 15, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Good baskets
- front nine
- elevation
- beautiful lake

Cons:

- back nine
- worst tee boxes I've ever seen
- lots of holes that are the exact same
- long walk from 18 back to the parking lot
- tee signs have no map

Other Thoughts:

I know this course is new and still raw, so I take that into effect into my overall opinion. The front nine was awesome. I really liked the mix up of different shots, and the lake hole is awesome, despite being a monster. I think with better tee boxes this course could improve drastically. Without the uDisc map, we would have been lost. Definitely a ton of potential for this property though.

Woodbury 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 12, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

Great layout and design at this course. Beautiful park. Really enjoyed it. The 7th is spectacular!

Cons:

It's wet and the back nine are still very wooded and hard to navigate, only because it's not finished yet. Beware of ticks.

Other Thoughts:

This will be a really great place when there done working on it. Very much worth going to now though.
