2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 30, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Beautiful view
-never really a wait on a hole
-Can be challenging on some holes(if you make it)

Cons:

-homemade don't have the hype
-no tees
The people on the beach and the park always in the way
-the layout of this seemed more like a one day project then anything

Other Thoughts:

I have been camping here since we I was 10 and they finally got a disc golf course, but it's not really worth the money to just play the course with the potential of being a really interesting course!

Again, No Tees 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:May 8, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

+Nice effort on the homemade baskets. They aren't the greatest but I always admire the effort put into making them and the uniqueness that it adds to the course.
+Nice area of land on the lake. It is slightly rolling with some nice mature trees. It is a nice area to walk through and throw some discs around.
+Good for safari golf.
+The course is short so it is good for the type of people that will be spending time at this rec area.
+The course may entice new players to seek out bigger and better courses.

Cons:

-Homemade baskets aren't the best
-No tees, I can't give courses without tees very high rankings. Tees are one of the first things that should be put in on a disc golf course.
-Pay to play, definitely not worth it if you are a traveling player. If you want to spend some time at the beach or camp here, it is worth it.
-Very short course that won't challenge most players. You could play a round without any drivers at all.
-Not enough trees to force any lines. You can throw pretty similar shots on most holes.

Other Thoughts:

-Like I mentioned before, this course is in a state rec area so it is pay to play. It really isn't worth going in for just the disc golf. Don't come here unless you have a full day of outdoor recreation planned here.
-There aren't many courses in this area, Okoboji Gold to the east is really the only must play course in the area.

Missed Opportunity for Greatness 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 28, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

Beautiful recreation area around a lake that offers camping, fishing, basketball court, a playground, walking trails, and a short disc golf course designed by some Eagle scouts. Good way to pass some time for campers visiting the park. Most of the holes are set amongst the trees with some slight elevation changes that offer a little bit of technicality.

Cons:

The course only has one marked tee area where hole 1 is, other than that there are no marked tees. Baskets are homemade and not very good quality. No multiple pin placements and due to no tee areas you can just make up your own. The course really has no thought put in to the layout. Hole 9 ends furthest from where you start the course. Not too much challenge to be found here and you can play the entire course with just a midrange and putter.

Other Thoughts:

I was really excited to come check out this course as it isn't too far from where I live. I was really disappointed by what I found and even more so after seeing all of the excellent areas on this beautiful piece of land that could have been utilized. With a proper redesign this park could be home to a phenomenal pay to play course complete with elevation changes, trees, and plenty of water hazards.
