Good New City Lake Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 12, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

Beautiful scenic country lake course.
Good variety of shots required. Woods, open, long, and shorter.
Multiple routes on some holes.
Multiple pads and pins on many holes.
Easy to navigate with signs and cut paths.

Cons:

Bad triple mando on hole 9.
No benches or water available.
LONG walk from 9 to 10.
Tall grass will be an issue of you aren't accurate.
Ticks will be an issue in summer.

Other Thoughts:

This course is so new the top of the Discatchers were still wrapped in plastic when I played it. It is at a small city lake north of Kansas City and 10-15 minutes off I-35.

The cut grass fairways on the open holes are tight but fair with larger landing areas cut out at appropriate spots. Some holes still need work but it is very playable. It looks like the pads will go in soon. Tall grass is short now but will be nasty in a month or so. The water never comes into play on this course.

Par will probably be 57-58 with hole 2 at 1000 feet and hole 4 at 750 feet. Some of the signs are way off on distance. My guess is changes were made after signs were printed. Hole 17 says 400/450 but is about 250 and hole 18 says 350 but is less than 200. If you throw 325+ there will be birdie opportunities. According to the signs the tips play almost 7600 feet.

My biggest beef is hole 9. It is 287 slightly downhill and open. Apparently the designer thought it was too easy so the sign calls for a triple mando. There are flags marking an area you are supposed to cross over about 50 feet short of the pin. You won't even be able to tell whether the mando was made unless they put up giant poles or something. The hole is what it is! If you think it's too easy then put the pin near the water or something please.

This course is going to improve with time and may deserve a higher rating down the road.

Am tip: Stay on the fairways!!
