Leeman Field DGC in Pennington Gap, VA

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 16, 2022 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Absolutely beautiful property.
Some really fun ace runs.
Good for a quick round of 18 holes.
Alternate tees available for players who don't want to throw over the water.
Great use of the land allowed.
Just an overall fun layout.

Cons:

You may have to wait on walkers several times on this course.
A small stretch of repetitiveness in the middle of the course.
It would be hard to host a tournament at this course.

Other Thoughts:

Leeman Field DGC in Pennington Gap, Virginia is an absolutely beautiful disc golf course! I have played over 90 different courses and this course would be really close to, if not in, the top 10 most beautiful properties that I have ever played disc golf on. The course is mostly in an open field as you would guess by the name. This field is surrounded woods and the entire course plays parallel to a creek and even plays across the creek on two of the holes. There is a small stretch in the middle of the course where you could argue the holes play very similar to each other, but with minor differences on these, each hole is it's own. In discussing this course with the course designer, I admitted that given the same property to design a disc golf course on, I am not sure I would have been able to get an 18 hole course out of this land. He did a very good job at keeping each of the holes mostly separate from each other on a section of the property which is essentially the shape of a peninsula. This is not one of those courses that you are going to try and fine-tune your top notch skills, but if you are looking for a course that is beautiful and just an overall VERY fun layout to play, you should add this one to your wishlist! In short, this course is two long par 4's (1 and 18) with a bunch of fun ace runs in the middle! Definitely worth the stop if you are in the area!
