Potentially OK practice track 2+ years drive by

Pros:

Lenovo DGC is a 9-basket, 10-tee course on Lenovo's RTP campus. Unfortunately, I think this course is the weakest of the many RTP campus courses. It has the bones to be better than two of them (RTI and Cisco), but the upkeep doesn't warrant it at this point. Here's my ranking of RTP campus courses as of this review:

1. IBM - 3.0 (only 18-hole track of the bunch)
2. SAS - 2.0
3. LORD - 1.5
4. RTI - 1.5
5. Cisco - 1.0 (aka Marcom Woods)
6. Lenovo - 1.0

+ I love water courses. While this track doesn't have any water carries (although I think it *could* and *should*), just having water in play as an obstacle is a good feature.

+ The back half of the course (holes 6-9 or 7-10, depending on if you play the extra hole on the front half) are well-maintained (no high grass) and play in a loop with shorter walks between holes.

+ Dual tees, red and blue, marked with reflector lights. The blue tees are appropriate for intermediate players. The red tees are appropriate for rec players and beginners.

Cons:

Unfortunately, I have quite a few cons. The good news is, some of these are pretty easy to fix.

- The grass was knee-high on the entire front half of the course, when I played. Itchy and no fun. I assume the track doesn't get much action as I would think people would complain about maintenance otherwise.

- The course begins behind Building 8 on one side of a decent-sized pond, but finishes on the other side. You will have a very long walk either at the beginning of your round, the end of your round, or both, depending on where you park. There's also a long walk between the front half of the course (holes 1-5 or 1-6, depending on if you play on of the baskets twice for a 9-hole or 10-hole layout). This problem could be easily solved, in my opinion, by adding a water carry hole in between the front and back half. There's a walking bridge to connect the two sides of the course. Why not put a hole to one side of the bridge? That would add a signature hole to the course, in addition to a long walk in between holes.

- This track is essentially 9-10 hyzer tee shots in a row for RHBH players. There's some variety in distance, but not much.

- Baskets are portable MVP's. Not terrible, but just OK.

- There's good tee area markings with the red and blue reflectors, but these are just natural areas, not paved pads (except for the final hole, which plays from a sidewalk). The front-half holes tee from overgrown grass.

- Navigation is tricky as there are no next tee signs, long walks between some holes, and not all of the holes have numbers near the tees. Also, the hole that I keep referencing that plays back to the same basket isn't officially numbered. I would just go ahead and add this as a hole, give it a number, re-number everything else, and make it a 10-hole course. (Even better, make it a 12-hole course with a water-carry hole in between holes 6 and 7 and then a water-carry hole coming back the other direction as the last hole. Then the course would somewhat loop back to where it started.)

Other Thoughts:

I think with a little maintenance (just cutting the grass), this course would be much more fun to play. I don't know if this is a possibility, but adding the connecting water-carry hole in the middle and one at the end to complete the loop would make it much more memorable and cut down on walking in between holes. Otherwise, if you work here or need to practice hyzers, just play the back 4 holes and skip the rest.
