Disc Golf & Wine 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Apr 19, 2015 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

*Absolutely beautiful setting. Can't emphasis this enough, just gorgeous.
*Homemade wine barrel baskets add to ambiance.

Cons:

*Way off the beaten path to get there.
*Course conditions vary a lot! First time grass was mowed and it was very nice. 2nd time grass was very high and I spent 1/2 my time picking out weeds out of my socks/shoes.

Other Thoughts:

[April '15] I had the pleasure to play this course on an absolutely perfect afternoon. First off they ask that you purchase a glass of wine to play, didn't have to twist my arm to hard to get me to do that :) This course just opened to the public and I believe he is still tweaking it a bit so my review could easily change as he continues to improve the course.

Overall I'd say this course isn't difficult to par but it would be very difficult to play very far under par.

This course is tailor made for tourists. The setting is magnificent and if you are looking for a different type of disc golf course you should definitely hit this up. A must play for those visiting the gorge if the conditions are right.

For locals: Not sure how often I'll go to play this. The distance from The Dalles is just far enough that I wouldn't want to do it too often for just a 9 hole course. But if I were hitting up N. Bonneville it would be very tempting to play on the way back home.

[Update] *2nd time I played (June '15) the grass was knee high. It really ruined my experience. I wore shorts and regular shoes and needed pants/boots/gators to keep stuff out of my shoes. I would have rated this course a 1 based on the conditions. Not unplayable but not fun. I had to stop 1/2 way through to pick stuff out of my socks/shoes. And had to spend another 10 minutes doing it again when I got home. I shouldn't have to spend 15 min cleaning my shoes to play a 9 hole course. 1/3 of the holes were changed. Not a big fan of the changes. Too many holes feel like gimmick shots. But the course is a work in progress and he is still constantly trying to improve it. I'll check back this fall to see if more changes were done.
