Pleasant round of 10

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 18, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

-beginner level, but not too easy
-layout allows for a variety of shot shapes
-good elevation change
-not a busy course
-beautiful scenery/atmosphere
-discs available by hole 1 (lost and found)

Cons:

-navigation/signage to next holes was not great
-a few baskets are shared with Raven course
-some fairways overlap with Raven
-didn't see a tee pad for hole 10
-bring a spotter in spring/summer

Other Thoughts:

Lucky Mud is such a great place to get away from town and relax. Throw in these 2 disc golf courses and you are sure to have a great time.

Like Raven, Woodpecker is a very good course that is so close to being great. The course navigation is a little tough so you'll need to refer to the map to figure out where some of the tee pads are. If I remember correctly, holes 1, 6 and 8 use the orange discatchers from the Raven course.

Love the downhill tosses from holes 1 through 4.

We played safari glow golf at night- awesome. Had the place to ourselves. Bring your own glow sticks for baskets.

The hospitality and room we stayed in there was very nice and friendly. The game room was a hit for our kids. Also nice fire pit and grill available. We can't wait to come back next time!

The Woodpecker Course Is A Great Addition To The Lucky Mud Disc Golf Experience! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:May 25, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

The Inn at Lucky Mud is already home to the Raven, a 21 hole disc golf course that is both technical and challenging. Adam and his posse are always working hard to improve the Raven course. When I drove in Sunday, they were constructing a new raised tee pad on hole three of the Raven course.

The Woodpecker course is a mostly short recreational 10 hole course. It does, however, play through some of the prettiest areas of the entire property. And this property is the quintessential Northwest forest. Every hole on this course is a possible birdie and many are easy Ace opportunities.

The keypads are natural but work well for this course. As this course is called the red course, there are red signs showing the whole number and some next three arrows to help you navigate. The tee signs are currently blank. The baskets are a mixture of different models.

Just like with the Raven course, the Woodpecker course has a distinct rustic feel to it. But the overall welcome you get here, as well as the friendliness of Adam and his co-harts just make this a great disc golfing experience.

Cons:

The Woodpecker course is definitely an easy recreational throw. You won't be using many of your drivers.

The day I played, the number five basket was being used elsewhere. But I walked the hole anyway and look forward to playing it sometime. It's one of the prettier holes on the entire property.

The signs are currently blank.

The natural keypads are OK right now but new team pads are being poured all the time

Other Thoughts:

Thanks to the friendliness of Adam and the rest of the staff here at Lucky Mud, staying here at the inn and having two great courses to play now only enhances your overall disc golf experience. I highly recommend if you get the chance to come stay at the end and try your luck on both courses.

The Inn at Lucky Mud is 30 miles west of Longview. It's a lovely drive along the river and the entire golf experience is unique and one that you will cherish.
