9 baskets in a field

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 25, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

A place to throw your frisbees. Didn't check out the campground as the course is placed at the entrance. If I were to camp there I'd maybe appreciate a place to throw some drives in a field of nicely mowed grass. Homemade baskets were decent, though most seemed elevated. Surprising long holes, I threw fairway or distance driver on most tee shots.

Cons:

9 holes in a field playing clockwise on the edge of the woods (on your left). Layout was wonky. Holes 1 - 3 were intuitive but then we threw to the wrong basket from teepad of 4. Then saw how the next tee was in the fairway of the current hole (which was repeated). So made up our own safari holes to make it more interesting while figuring out and puzzling over the intended design.

Other Thoughts:

Only a course bagger or camper on site should throw this mess. The other 2 courses in Detroit Lakes are a far better experience. Especially the City Park, which I very much enjoyed.

Meadow Lake

Reviewed: Played on:May 23, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

The Meadow Lake Campsite course is located at the entrance of the campsite property. The course is a free course open to the public. The course is mowed and the baskets were in good condition. There are no tee pads, but there is a pole with the basket number at each tee location. The baskets display the number. There are no water hazards. All shots are open shots. The tee for #1 and the basket for #9 are located close to the parking lot.

Cons:

Three sides of the course share borders with marshes, which will likely cause players to deal with mosquitos during the summer months.

Other Thoughts:

This course is worth a visit if you are in the Detroit Lakes area.
