Fall Colors and Big Mountains 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 4, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

I played this course on the last weekend of a long hot (Indian) summer. The holes were not super long and mostly open. I threw forehands (RH) on both holes that went around the lake. Not too much wind the day we played, but the area is notorious gusty breezes. A good beginner course.

Cons:

Nothing really, although on a summer afternoon I can see the park being much more crowded and that could be a problem as the course is all through grass in a big County Park.

And I did throw a disc into the ball field and had to climb the 6-foot chain-link fence and it almost killed me! (I'm 62)

Other Thoughts:

This course is in a Inyp County park, not the campground. Go all the way up and around the ball field to the snack shack, from there it's easy to follow.

We camped at Horton Creek CG, which is really cheap ($8), with big sites and a nice babbling creek nearby, not to mention spectacular views in all directions. I did not check out Millpond CG. Great for a road-trip stop if you're headed down 395! We also played Bijou Park in South Lake Tahoe and Shady Rest in Mammoth.

good time

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Mar 5, 2020 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

-open course, with fairly good visibility of each hole...though a couple of times the next hole had to be pointed out. but the signage is pretty good at pointing you in the right direction even if you don't have someone with you who's played the course recently
-the backdrop of the sierras is epic
-good baskets and cement t-boxes

Cons:

-wind can be pretty gnarly
-its an open park with other activities so you have to be careful and considerate of folks just wandering through your shot
-couple holes right on the lake can be unnerving...but I'm happy to report the water is not too deep

Worth checking out 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Apr 4, 2019 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

*Free to play
*Large, level, consistently sized concrete tees.
*Top notch, highly visible baskets.
*Signs have places to hang bags.
*Decent use of limited available obstacles to make the course more challenging.
*Decent hole variety - mandatory doglegs, low ceiling/possible rollers, tight fairways, open holes.
*Very little shrubbery to lose discs in.
*Amazing views.

Cons:

*Signage distances seem to be incorrect right now.
*RHFH/LHBH heavy course. Not having one to rely on can be a little annoying.
*Fairways for holes 2 and 3 basically overlap.
*Some holes are unplayable when non-players are in the area. Park fortunately is lightly used.
*Cars can park uncomfortably close to some playing zones.
*Trees on holes 13 and 14 are very grabby. Easy to get discs stuck up in them.
*Some OB require long walks around fences for retrieval.
*Can get windy in the afternoon - scary with the water hazard. Welcome to the Eastern Sierra.
*Very hot with little shade during the summer.

Other Thoughts:

Nothing amazing, but a well built course that's fun to play.
