Pros:

North Elementary is a short, pitch-n-putt 9-hole layout. With a little bit of elevation and wooded feel, it does offer fun looks for kids.
- This is a simply designed, not-a-lot-of-time-went-into-the-layout type of course. The first hole is directly in front of the school building. Holes 2 - 4 play in a small loop alongside the building in a small open area. Hint: these holes are the epitome of filler holes. More on that later.
- The course doesn't get interesting until the fifth hole. Trees suddenly become a factor from here on out.
- This is a great course for kids & beginners in terms of length and challenge. No holes are longer than 200 feet. No chance for a lost disc…..although, I did have to spend 3 minutes knocking a tree out of the only branch that comes into play on #9. Lesson learned when trying to get a cubby ace on a 99-foot hole.
- #5 & 6 are both fun short holes. #5 is a 117-foot hole just over a mound and back down to the basket that is partially hidden behind a pine tree. You can park a shot 10 foot to either side of the basket. Or you've got to get a little more creative if going for your ace run.
- #6 would be a fantastic hole were it in the 300-foot range. As it is, it's a 149-foot,slightly downhill narrowed-fairway hole. Throw a tight, on-a-rope tee shot and you'll be right there at the basket
- Giant, colorful tee signs. You can easily spot them to make your round even easier.

Cons:

Holes #2 - 4 are out of place both literally and figuratively. For starters, they're inside a locked gate portion of the school. And based on the giant no trespassing/playground is school property only sign, I doubt that gate is often unlocked.
- Once you play them, you realize anyone can get up and down from around 125 feet on wide open holes three times in a row. Realistically, the only way you're doing worse than a 2 on any of these holes is an overly aggressive ace run sails too far past. So, if you're anti-trees on a disc golf course (shout out RedneckMachismo), you'll love these three holes.
- Piling on that point, past #6's basket you've got a much better area for three disc golf holes (4 if you include hole #1). Even with just a smattering of trees and a pinch of elevation, you're at least giving an attempt for a better design.
- Listed distances are off on several holes. #5 's listed distance is a good 50-feet longer than the actual layout whereas #8's is significantly shorter. The listed distance's from UDisc's app seem more accurate than the tee signs.
- An errant throw from a kid on #1 could smash into a school window. What, you don't think a kid's throw could end up 90 degrees from where they aimed? On # 8, a shot sailing right could end up in the road.
- Grass tees. In case a run up is needed on a 150-foot hole is needed, then you'll be let down here.

Other Thoughts:

North is a perfectly suitable 1100-foot nine-hole course. Most players won't need anything more than a putter and/or mid-range.
- Along those lines, if you're introducing kids or families to a simple, varied layout, this is an excellent course for that. Plenty of beginners can learn here even if they only have the intro 3-pack of discs.
- You could easily play through twice in about 30 minutes. If you're looking for a quick 18, this is a great course for that. If you're looking for an ace, again, an excellent course for that.
- #6 is the best hole and it's not that close. #2 & 3 are the worst. #4 at least has the wall you can skip a disc off of.
- The course incorporates the land for #4 - 9 as good as one could expect. It'd just be nice to have the other three holes on the other side of the school where the terrain is better. Still, if I want my kids learning the game, this is the type of course I'm playing.
