Pros:
+Very nice campus grounds. They water the grass here and must have a full time grounds crew to keep it looking great. Most campus buildings are newer and look really good. I knew that they had a community college campus in Norfolk but I didn't know that it was this nice.
+Ample parking.
+9 baskets.
+Good for practice, beginners.
Cons:
On Udisc, it says that this course is in testing phase. Hopefully testing goes well so they can address many of the issues on this course.
-Very few trees. Plant some now and your course could be somewhat fun in awhile. As of now only holes 2 and 7 really have any trees on them and they are still lightly wooded.
-No signage at all. Use udisc to make sure that you are following the layout somewhat.
-I think that a few tees were marked by flags but it was inconsistent and some were just plain not there at all.
-Natural, grass tees.
-Baskets are all Innova portables that are single chained and are not at all attached to the ground as far as I could tell. This course layout could change in an instant.
-This course is super flat. Not more than 3' of elevation change on any given hole.
-Some of the holes felt long just because length was the only thing that provided any challenge. Lots of open holes.
-2,3,9 play close to the parking lot/driving lanes.
Other Thoughts:
+I'm hopeful that they put some $$$ and time into this course. It could become reasonably fun if they put in permanent baskets, tees, signs, plant trees, etc. The temp feel of this course makes it barely better than a practice area.
+Low fun factor right now. Too open. Too flat. Just very little variety.
+For those wondering, the town is pronounced "Nor-fork"
+The other two city 18 holers are much more fun. TaHa near the river is pretty tightly wooded and flat while Skyview is more open but has a good amount of elevation change.
