Pros:

The course plays through the back of a large multi-use park. Several of the holes play in grassy fields with scattered mature trees and some thick rough in spots. A few of these holes have some fun elevation and some roll away potential around the basket. A few holes play down in a more wooded area with narrower lines to hit and more punishment for errant shots. There are actually a few shots that offer some interesting challenges mixed in with more straightforward shots.

Cons:

The lower part of the course was a bit of a mess. There were lots of dead branches down on the fairways and the area holds a lot of water and mud even a while after a rain. The signage is lacking, making the course a little tough to follow at times. The tees have numbers on posts, but in a couple spots there are multiple baskets in view and you have to walk all the way to the pin to find the faded number (or none at all). There is a course map online, you'll want to print it or have it up on your smartphone.

Other Thoughts:

Beginners will find this course approachable but challenging. The open holes have a little length and can be windy, but aren't too punitive. The more punishing wooded shots are reasonable lengths. More experienced players will find a few challenging and interesting shots, but it's not terribly tough overall.

not bad 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 21, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

Long tees offer 3240 yardage.
Tees again not worn in (nearby Millcreek and Point Rock Park's tees are also quite pristine. This means you can make a day trip of this area and really enjoy a nice, quiet day of years gone by, course to yourself, golf.)

Cons:

Tees are posts in the ground. They do have a number on top to let you know which one you're at; but, no yardage, or even an arrow showing direction.
There is a box for maps at beginning of course; but was empty.
As noted in the Sford's review; holes #6, 7, and #8, until the bucket; were extremely swampy. This must be a common theme. (It was quite rainy the day we were there, though).

Other Thoughts:

Wind was a huge factor the first 3 holes. May be fairly normal for this course; thus, adding a difficulty level. The course challenged the two of us; and though I only gave it a two; this has a lot to do with the swampiness of three holes, the poor signage, and the fact that it's a nine. We did negotiate it fine with the posts though. I will probably come back and perhaps bump it up .5.

Potential Exist 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 2, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course has some potential. With a little work this course could be a little hidden gem. In it's current state this course is barely passable.

Cons:

This course is kinda hard to follow as most of the signage is gone. Holes 6 and 7 were muddy and flooded. With a little bit of work this course could easily bump up to a 3.

Other Thoughts:

If in this area there are far better courses to play. Unless work is done to improve this one, I would recommend checking out some of the other local courses. Both Mt. Carroll and Fulton are nearby with better courses.
