Nice course in an area of AR where you might not expect disc golf 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 16, 2020 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

* Nice park in the city
* It's on UDisc with a map - use it
* Good baskets in decent shape
* Full 18 holes
* Fairly open - not too technical for beginners.

Cons:

* Navigation is ok, but not helped by tee signs. Use UDisc.
* No tee pads (minor issue)
* Missing signs for tee 3 & 17 (as of Feb 2020)
* Marshy area in the middle of the park which several holes cross (11, 12, 13). Makes for a bit of a walk around to get to your next shot. BRING A TOWEL(s). Seems to be wet any time of the year, to my experience.
* Be aware of other park users - fairly popular walking path in play of several holes
* Not a huge variety of shots

Other Thoughts:

I have played this course several times as my company has an office in Ozark to which I'm asked to travel occasionally. This is a nice lunch break (ok, extended lunch) course. I'm glad there is a course so close to where I work when in Ozark.
As others have said, navigation is confusing the first time you play this course. Fortunately, it is in UDisc with the GPS map. You'll need it until you get the hang of the course and it will help you spot the tee for 3 & 17 as the signs are missing on those holes.
There are not a lot of different shots here, again as others have said. My favorite holes are 4, 7 & 17: 4 is guarded by some trees and speed control is required; 7 may be the best hole as a decent pull is needed off the tee (like 350 uphill) and then a good upshot is needed over a tree line to the basket; 17 has a nice risk / reward over the creek.
The course does well with the space, IMO and the park is pleasant. Ozark is a nice town, too.

Great Park, needs some work 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 23, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

- The park is outstanding. Beautiful city park, grass was cut, a nice creek cut throw the middle of the park. It was a perfect park for a course.

- The course layout was alright. There were several holes that were very good. #7 is a great hole, baits you into trying to throw to the mouth of a gap in the tree line on the right, but once you throw and walk up to it, it becomes very clear, there is no way to really get through the gap, the only way to access the hole, if you're on the right side, is go over the trees. There are several other holes that force you to throw a high quality shot.

- Baskets were all in great shape, not championship level baskets, but as good as one could expect at a city park. The teepads were natural, which isn't a pro, but none of the spots were muddy or on a severe slope. There was some really muddy spots around the park, but the tees and baskets were all clear of them.

Cons:

- The layout had too many overlaps, a few times I had to study the UDisc map for a few mins to be sure I was throwing at the right basket. There really isn't any way to know which basket to throw to other than the UDisc map, and the signs showing the distance and finding a basket that's roughly that distance away.

- Like I said in pros, there are some really good holes, but.......it's for the most part a hyzerfest. 1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, 13, 14, 15, 16, & 17. Hyzers.

- I dont know what to make of the tee signs. They are that white plastic sign that normally has a basic drawing of the hole, but these didn't have any drawing. Just the hole#, par, and distance. Really made throwing to the right basket and navigate between holes difficult. Baskets could use number plates, and some indicator to point to the next tee. Really, needs just something other than the UDisc map to help navigate, bc you can't assume everyone will use that.

- #3 and #17 tee signs were missing, I just threw from where the UDisc map showed the tee to be, unfortunate since those were 2 of the nicer holes, didn't like having to throw them, not knowing I was in the right spot.

- Like I said, some of the better natural tee areas, but always prefer concrete or some tee that creates a level, dry area to throw. Plus there was nothing to mark where to throw other than the sign. Didn't say which side to throw from, needs something to mark the actual throwing spot.

Other Thoughts:

Other than the navigation issues, I really did enjoy my round. It was quiet, clean park, that really is great for disc golfing. Doubt I will ever play it again, since I was just traveling to Fort Smith, which has some great courses, but I wanted to stop and play a course I hadn't played before.

Definitely a course I would recommend to someone wanting to play a course somewhere along I-40 that they hadn't played before. And if the course was upgraded to resolve its issues, I would think it would be a great course.

Needs hole info at teepads 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 29, 2014 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Great for the city of Ozark and could make a great ace run course and practice course in town. Having an 18 hole course is progressive for this area but needs some work on the layout.

Cons:

Poor Tee Pad markers. I couldn't figure out what hole I was throwing at. There are no dustances on the markers or hole layout either so you just have to guess where you're thriwing.

Other Thoughts:

I live behind the course and would like to get with whoever designed the course and help with the repeats markers by having a picture of the hole layout, distance etc..also possibly putting in tee pads and getting a weekly doubles tourney going. My email [email protected] and am interested in getting a group together to improve the course and start weekly dubs an ace pool and possibly sunday dubs or singles. Also bag tags would be fun.
