Not a Real Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 10, 2020 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

A good place to practice fundamentals, but that's about it. This is not a course so much as a park with a bunch of baskets placed throughout it for fun.

Cons:

The first major issue is that the baskets are laid out in a public park, surrounded by ballfields and a playground. If kids are using the fields, parts/all of the course is unplayable. The only "signage" consists of 2 white poles representing where the tee areas are. There are no signs showing you which basket to throw at or where to go after you complete a hole, so it requires a lot of exploration to figure out where you're going if you're going to actually try to play a real round instead of just throw around.

Other Thoughts:

There's honestly not much hope for this place as a real course because of the location. Not worth a drive, but if you just want to hang out, bring the discs and have fun.

Nice park, awful design 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 1, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

Park is well maintained for the most part. Grass fairways are kept cut short. Baskets are high visibility orange.

Cons:

Design. There were no others in the park while I played, so the dangerous basket locations were not an issue, but this is a serious problem. Basket 1 lies within a few feet of a port-a-potty, and parking lot. Basket 2 is blind and very close to the next tee. Basket 3 is hidden behind a gazeebo. Basket 4 plays over a baseball field. Basically every basket is in either a dangerous position, or an awful position in terms of design.

Tees are well marked with dual posts that are waist high. They present a real danger for injury on your follow through.

Other Thoughts:

At the time of this review the course has an average rating of 3.0. THIS IS NOT A 3.0 COURSE. I stopped here as it was directly on my travel route, but i would never recommend any one else play here, even if you are driving right by.

Fun scenic course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 7, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

-This course has holes in a variety of lengths. There are short placement holes and longer bomber holes. There is even the opportunity to empty your bag on a couple holes.

-The baskets are in good shape.

-The park itself is well maintained.

-The park has lots to offer beyond just the course. Makes for a fun family day.

-There is the opportunity to use most basic throws on this course including hyzer, anhyzer, and forehand throws.

-As a recreational course, it provides some challenge.

-Some of the holes are particularly fun. Hole 2 involves a blind throw into some guardian trees. Hokes 5-8 are probably the best on the course. Hole 5 is a RHFH skip shot into a protected basket. Hole 6 is the first real bomber hole on the course. Hole 7 has a really fun basket location behind a wall of pines. Hole 8 runs along the river and features an elevated tee. Hole 8 is probably the signature hole for the course. I really enjoyed crushing a disc out over the river and watching it fade back into the fairway.

-Some of the basket locations make good use of the available land. Holes 4 and 5, for example, both dogleg right and are set back into the woods.

Cons:

-No course map or tee signs. I got a bit confused while attempting to navigate the course.

-Hole lengths seem incorrect on DGCR to me. I don't know where they came from, but hole 1 is less than 125 ft. Other holes seem to be shorter than recorded on here.

-Some of the baskets are in questionable locations. Hole 1, for example, goes over the parking lot and is unplayable with cars parked there, especially for rec players. Hole 3 plays around the gazebo and is dangerous if people are using it. Hole 9 plays by the baseball field and a poorly thrown disc could go over the fence and onto the field.

-No permenant teepads. There are posts indicating where to throw from, but they do not provide the same footing that teepads do.

- Not much challenge here for the advanced or intermediate player. A score of -5 or -6 should be easily obtainable, even on a first play.

Other Thoughts:

With some teepads, proper signage, and a small redesign (please move the first basket up the hill to the left and the third basket out from behind the gazebo), this could be a 3.5 or 4 rated 9 hole course. Some holes are potentially dangerous (holes 1 and 3) and should get mandos or a redesign. Other than these small issues, the course is pretty average but certainly worth the time to play at least once. If I lived nearby, I would play it several times a week.

9 Hole course at a nice setting 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Apr 7, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nice scenery abounds here. The holes are open, but challenges are provided by many blind tee-shots, wind, and elevation changes.

Cons:

Being a recreational course, the lack of solid tee pads and signage are to be expected, as it is not a dedicated DG course. However, there are upright poles in the ground that have a number posted on them, pointing you in the direction of the baskets. I have to admit that the first time playing there I walked around a bit trying to get a feel for how the course is supposed to go; hopefully future players can benefit from the pictures in the media tab for guidance. The lack of tee pads is not a huge issue; even with the soggy March/April ground, the tee area is quite study.

Other Thoughts:

For those that seek a woodsy course, this is not likely to be your favorite. For those that are looking for a basic, open course that has other activities to offer (playground for the kids, volleyball, BBQ), this certainly would be enjoyed well.

The course's feel is comparable to other open, non-dedicated DG courses in New England within a recreational area such as Tilton Park, Foster's Meadow, and Mountain View Resort
