Very basic 2+ years drive by

Pros:

Nothing complicated about this course. It's on an old golf course that's been abandoned or is going to be used for something else. It's mowed at the majority of the tees, and the white and red tees are very clearly marked.

Cons:

Let me start this by saying that the staff at the Sugar Shack at Peek n' Peak are very nice people. However, they didn't know very much about the disc golf course. One guy I talked to said there were two courses, one at the bottom of the mountain and one at the top. He said the one at the bottom was closed and that I'd need to take the lift up. I got the the top and found a ball golf course and they said the DG course wa at the bottom... Down I went and asked other people about the course. A nice man in the Sugar Shack told me I needed pay $5 to rent baskets and set them up, which sounded very odd to me. He turned me over to another guy who brought me a bag of discs, despite the fact that I had a large bag of discs hanging from my shoulder. I said I didn't need discs, I needed baskets, still thinking it odd that I needed them. A woman who worked there said no, the baskets were already set up. Ok... they said the course was across the street and to the left of the mini golf course. Since I didn't need discs (or baskets) I asked for my money back but the first man said it was still $5 to play. Fair enough. The course was very basic, with short, flat holes. Hole 2 was missing its signs, although I found them on the ground in some grass. One hole was labeled as 512 ft., but it was only half that long. The baskets are nice, but are temporary; there's no sign of posts in the ground and the baskets have a tripod base. My guess is that they reset the course every year but I think they need to more carefully measure the hole lengths. There are several big trees, but the course doesn't seem to take much advantage of them as obstacles. The long grass between holes contains lots of gnats, and I was waving away bugs at every tee. That could change depending on the season.

Other Thoughts:

While the staff didn't know much about the course, the people were very nice. I had to leave my license when renting the items, and, as I was finishing up, a woman met me and returned my license. She told me the guy in the shop was worried that I'd forget since I had no reason to go back into the shop. They were right! So, it was a bit of an uneven day. If you're staying at Peek n' Peak, play a round, but I wouldn't go out of my way to do play it.

Very Short Par 3 Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:May 18, 2018 Played the course:once

Other Thoughts:

Flat, mostly open course with white and red tees. Some interesting water hazards and trees on a couple holes, but mostly very short and straightforward par 3s. Good course for children and beginners but nothing challenging here.
