Only course baggers need play 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 14, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Likely no one else will be playing, so you will have the course to yourself.
-Compact layout, can play it in 20 minutes or less.
-When I played, it had just been mowed, almost like a ball golf course, with different heights of grass for fairway, rough, and around the pin. Never seen this on any other disc golf course. Was very cool, maybe the highlight of the course. There was tall grass well away from the fairways.
-Elevation is totally flat. Not really a pro or con.
-Wide open, no obstacles--great for beginners.
-Visible baskets on each hole, but sometimes you could see several pins.
-Trash can and bench at the pavilion next to hole 1.
-Plenty of parking, easy to find.
-Options to play safari holes, create your own layout to increase difficulty.

Cons:

-Signs are not present, but if you have a course map, it is easy to figure out.
-Baskets are DGA Mach 2, although they were not assembled correctly, so chain section is a bit shortened. Numbers are helpful.
-Tee pads are red rubber restaurant mats, often very uneven. Sometimes it is safer to tee behind or off to the side.
-Benches absent but unnecessary.
-No bathrooms.

Other Thoughts:

This course is about 20 minutes northwest of Eugene, Oregon. You can play this course on your way up to Camp Serene, which is a great course. Located at Oregon State Hospital, a state psychiatric facility, this course is really for hard-core course baggers. I checked in at the front office, which may not have been necessary based on their response - friendly amusement that someone was coming to play disc golf. There is a large parking lot, head to the southern corner of the lot (to your right as you enter) and park at the lone pavilion.

Most of the holes are putter or midrange distance. To increase difficulty, can use the mowed grass to indicate OB.

Stop here only if you want to add to your list of courses played.

Pros:

Every basket has the number on top of them which is important because you can see multiple baskets from each tee box.
There's a nice box that says disc golf on it, inside these our the nicest laminated course maps I've ever seen you will want to look at these and use them
Short course gives you plenty of chances at an ace
Quick play
Probably have course to yourself
Should be able to shoot par or under

Cons:

tee pads our weird rubber things, that have grass growing through them, and couple our broken.
The baskets look like the poles were put in backwards giving a smaller radius.
The course is completely flat and wide open wide wide open. Not one obstacle lol
Can get windy might be a pro though as it is the only challenge

Other Thoughts:

Great place to try to get your first ace or just warm up the arm. However very boring course that plays back and fourth bring 2 discs and you're set

Not The Most Impressive Piece Of Land For A Course! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 16, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

The Pitney Disc Golf Course is on the grounds of the Oregon State Psychiatric Facility. They ask that you check in with security. The guys in security weren't very concerned and said go ahead and play. The course is out in the lawns beside the facility. There is a picnic type shelter with table and a bench. Also a mailbox with two kinds of course maps, a full-sized laminated page and also a small professional looking map like you would get at a golf course. Try to remember to return it when your round is over.

The tee pads are rubber floor mats. They're OK here but a couple already had grass growing up between them. There are no signs and the baskets are DGA models with a number on them.

The course is recreationally open. There are no obstacles, no hills, no trees, no buildings or even a playground to throw around. Each hole is a straight open shot. Actually, there is a gravel road next to # 8. It must be OB and therefore could be described as an obstacle.

Hole distances are:

1. 256'
2. 255.
3. 230'
4. 178'
5. 360'
6. 165'
7. 190'
8. 179'
9. 264'

Cons:

WIDE OPEN.

No obstacles.

Can be windy.

FLAT.

Rec distances.

A poor piece of property to put a course.

Other Thoughts:

Unless you work here, or are visiting someone, or are a patient yourself or are a serious course bagger, I can't imagine why anyone else would come here and play. Luckily for me, I only checked the box that said, "Course Bagger."

I hate to be too critical here because it looks as though they are really trying to be accommodating here but bottom line is, there really isn't much anyone could do here with flat piece of land with no trees, bushes or any other kinds of obstacles, man made or natural.
