Planada Elementary School Course Is Not The Worst Elementary School Course Ever! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 30, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

The course here starts, I think, behind the concession and backstops. I believe the first basket I encountered was the practice basket. The course plays in clockwise direction around softball fields, partially over the track and then around another softball field before looping back to the start. There are no tee pads but there is a brown pole with the hole # on it. The on-line map is helpful. The pretty dark blue DGA baskets are the star of the show here. They're awesome. The information sheet claims there are multiple tees but I didn't play them. I saw a couple of extra brown poles but they just confused me as I tried to figure out what # they were.

The course is actually too long for an elementary school course but it might have been designed for community play as well. Most of the holes are in the 240-280' range. # 1 is shorter but it features a annie throw around the backstop. The others are mostly open with a few trees to play around.

Cons:

The course would be pretty challenging to play when ball games are in progress. Some holes would be probably have to be skipped.

There are fences in play on several holes. Players who can't control their discs will probably send a few into the street.

I didn't care for # 6 where you have throw 200' to a basket and then backtrack back to the # 7 pole.

No tee pads.

Course is pretty vanilla although the designers didn't have a whole lot to work with here. The design here is fine.

Other Thoughts:

I love seeing courses on our school's property. However, I think with the length, fences and distance it travels from the school, that this is probably not used in the school's physical ed curriculum. It's really a decent little round for recreational type players. It's too tame for serious players but beginners might be glad to cut their teeth here.
