Description
***Private Course - Must text 513-225-6022 to gain permission and check availability*** Cedar Grove DGC is home to Crossover Disc Golf. Josh and Cheryl Terwilleger have built a very challenging and technical course that will challenge you with tight lines and tough basket locations. The 20 hole layout has a short (green), intermediate (purple) and long (blue) option on each hole. The 2024 season is the 4th year open, and there is still plenty to do. Some tee pads will be getting enlarged in 2024, trees and bushes will be planted back into spaces we had to clear out, and overall trimming and maintenance (ceilings and stumps). In years 2020 and 2021, the course simply wasn't ready, and it shouldn't have been opened up for mass play at that time. 2023 was a great year, but after another offseason of work, 2024 is going to be an amazing year. Around Cedar Grove you will see and hear: "The most Brutiful course you'll every play". Don't let the distance make you think that this is a piece of cake. There are a lot of trees, tight lines, and challenges all around. You won't need a high speed driver, but this course is a putter/mid/fairway driver masterpiece, that will also challenge your scramble game. There is a gravel lot up by the garage area for parking. There is a kiosk and money box by hole 1 tee pad. We are asking for a $5 donation to play per day. You can drop in cash in the box, or pay electronically. PayPal is [email protected] or Venmo is @JTtheTD (6022). 100% of monies collected go back to the course. There is also a port-o-let at the end of the garage furthest from the house if needed. What can you expect? You will have fun with the uniqueness and creativity of the course. You will hit trees. You will be challenged with approach shots and the scramble part of your game. Whether you are right or left handed, you will be be presented with backhand and forehand shots to make you throw straight, as well as hyzer and anhyzer shots. You will probably laugh at a few shots, and maybe want to cry (not really) on a few others. There is strict OB on some holes, islands, hazards, and a few mandos. You will find hanging baskets and baskets in trees and different heights. The OB/Islands/Mandos are there to keep people reigned in due to the course being on less than 7 acres. Some might call the course gimmicky, and some have called it like playing miniature golf. Regardless, there is nothing around like it, and the majority of the players think it is fun and can't wait to come back. The course is not a “bomber” course in any way. No one really needs any high speed drivers due to the lines given. It’s never going to be on the Pro Tour and wasn't designed to be a "championship" level course, but it will be a course you’ll want to play again. Pound for pound, it’s tough to beat this “short” course for what it offers. Cedar Grove has regulars that are 1000 rated, as well as novice players. The 3 layouts are very different. They present different shots and lines. The GREEN is our shortest and easiest layout. It is a par 60 layout, and if you can shoot around -15, that's about a 1000 rated round. It is full of ACE runs, and upshot practice for some. The PURPLE layout is our intermediate layout, and is a par 60 layout. For reference purposes, if you can shoot around -10 on this layout, that's about a 1000 rated round. Our BLUE layout is our most advanced layout and is a par 60 layout. It is very difficult, and for some very frustrating with the tight lines and much more challenging mandos and islands to hit. For reference, a 1000 rated round on that layout is around -4. The course features 4x10 concrete pads for most all holes on blue and purple layouts, quality Dynamic/Latitude baskets that are sanctioned up to PDGA B-tier, and excellent signage. Everything you’d want from a quality course. Cedar Grove has a pond that’s in play, and elevation change, as well as fairways/greens that have some slope to them. Please note: this course wasn't designed or intended to be a championship level course. It is the Terwilleger and Crossover family practice course. It will make you throw forehand, backhand, straight, and learn to scramble. That is by design. There are events throughout the year. It is woods golf as it is intended to be. It’s the most “Brutiful Course” you’ll play! If you can enjoy it for what it is (technical masterpiece), instead of what isn't (a long bomber, wide open course), you will have a blast! Let us know if you’d like to give it a try….513-225-6022 (please text).
