Pros:

Ravenshire DGC is located some pristine private acreage in the middle of nowhere. No need to worry about pedestrians here!

The majority of the 19 holes are wooded and almost every basket is well protected by trees. Expect to bust out the bag of tricks as straddle putts and patent pending approaches may come in to play often . You'd better bring your A-game too because if you miss your line you can pretty much kiss par good bye.

Hole 4 gets my nomination as the signature hole here. It's 400 foot dead straight tunnel shot with heavy woods on both sides and may God have mercy on your soul if you end up off the fairway. Hole 17 is memorable as well. It's a 350 foot water carry but there is an option to lay-up if you're yellow-bellied like I am.

The pro shop on site has a decent selection and friendly staff. There's also a practice basket next to the port-a-pot by hole 1's tee. And speaking of baskets the Dynamic Discs baskets here are pretty good so they deserve a mention.

Cons:

As mentioned above almost every basket is guarded by multiple trees. It can get pretty frustrating throwing what you thought was a good drive only to find out you have no clear shot at the basket.

There's not a lot of variety. Even the few open holes (except 17) either shoot into or out of the woods.

Wooden pallets are used for tee pads. If you don't have a long run up it's probably not an issue but I did stumble a couple times as my follow through took me off the pallet. The tee signs were just pieces of paper but they do tell you hole distance and any OB.

The course can be a bit tricky to get to. The back roads leading up to it are fairly narrow and the course itself is half a mile or so down a tiny gravel road. I didn't have any problems in my little hatchback but I wouldn't want to bring an RV back here.

Other Thoughts:

This is the sort of course that really makes you earn it. If you can hit your lines and stay disciplined you will be well rewarded. Any mishap is quickly punished though.

There is a 5 dollar fee to play here. I'd say it's worth it since it's a dedicated course.

There is some danger of losing discs here. Throw one in the pond on 17 and you may well kiss it good bye. If you kick off the fairway in the woods it gets pretty thick pretty fast and discs have a tendency to disappear. Luckily there's a pro shop on site to replace your lost discs!

There was also a big warning sign by a shed near hole 16 stating explosives were stored inside. So don't throw your Nuke anywhere near it! (sorry I had to)
